Far-right bloc a victim of it's own xenophobic idealogy

The far-right bloc of the European Parliament could be expelled from the European Parliament after a rift between it's own rank. Italian MEP, Alessandra Mussolini's (Grand-daughter of the Fascist dictator) xenophobic and ignorant remarks claiming that Romanians are "habitual law-breakers" could come back and haunt 'The Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty' (ITS) far-right bloc, with the 5 MEPs from The Greater Romania Party has now said that it can not work with Alessandara Mussolini, this would leave ITS without the required 20 MEPs needed.

This just goes to show, in my opinion, that narrow minded xenophobic nationalists like the ones in the ITS cannot work together, in an expanding EU, while keeping to their own world view, and now at least, The Greater Romania Party MEPs have tasted what it is to be like on the other end of messages designed to fuel hate. Although sadly, I doubt that it will make them think twice before spouting simular hateful comments about other people.

The British Olympic Assosation wants to field a "British" team (read English with a token Welsh, Scottish and Irish Play, especally if the British Lions Rugby team is anything to go by) for the 2012 Olympic games.

This move is opposed, thankfully, by the FAW, SFA and Irish Football Association, due to worries over what it could mean for the FAW, SFA and the Irish's place in Europe and other governing bodies. It could slowly lead to the erodision of the Welsh, Scottish and Irish football teams, and even though I am not a football fan, actually cannot stand the "sport", I still do not want to see the eradication of the Welsh football team, even if it is rubbish.

If a British team did become the norm, then what would happen to the football talent in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, surely the Celtic nations would be dispropotionatly effected by any such a move in the developement of the future Welsh, Scottish and Irish footballers.

Then there would also be an issue of the location of the main stadium of the British team, it would go to Wembely, without a doubt, this would mean loss of revenue for the football stadiums in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, since there wont be as much games being played in those, as there is at the moment.

To be frank, it would be a bad idea all around, especally due to the long term conquences of such a move, even if it is a "one off".

The battle between Westminister and Cariff

Welsh Secretary Peter Hain has told BBC Wales' Politics Show that he does not believe that a referendum on full law making powers can be won by 2011, despite polls showing some increasing support for full law making powers. This comes shortly after a simular split in the Conservative Party with a Tory MP slamming devolution in his blog.

The battle for full law making powers if fastly becoming a battle between Westminster Welsh MPs, who want to keep the status quo, and AMs who want to progress on with devolution and allow Wales to make it own laws.

This is a very dangerous road to go down for the Welsh MPs and Westminister, since if it is seen that Westminister is frustrating the Welsh Assembly, which has just as much, if not more, democratic legitimacy then Westminister, then it can only lead to more support for the Welsh Assembly, devolution and, if they are not carefull, even Plaid Cymru.

Westminister needs to stop blocking Wales, or risk destorying the United Kingdom, by allowing Plaid to point out that Wales cannot pass the laws which it has elected the Assembly government to do so, because Westminister does not want them too. It could become a very powerful message as time goes by, and will eventually lead to increased support for independence.

The MPs must stop trying to frustrate Wales just so that they can try to protect their own jobs, they are elected as MPs to do what is best for their consituancys, not to do what is best for themselves. They must accept what devolution means, and that, in Wales, full law making powers is eventually outcome.

Of course that is not to say that there is not an arguement to be made about their not being enough support for it, despite in polls there is a majority in support of devolution, this majority is not over 50%, and witht he low turn out at the last referendum, the higher the support is for full law making powers, the better, especally with turnout amongst young voters, who are more in favour of devolution then then other groups.

However, it is possible to win a referendum on a full law making parliament by 2011, and the more the MPs whine about this, the more possible it will come for Wales to win a Scottish-Style Parliament.

David Davies spokes out against devolution

Monmouth MP and ex-AM David Davies has spoke out against the Assembly and full-law making powers. According to the Western Mail he has said that Nick Bourne's support for full-law making powers is not offical Conservative Party policy, and that the Tories were right to oppose devolution in 1997 and would be right again if they opposed full-law making powers.

He claims that the Tories opposed devolution on grounds that it would be a waste of money, and would destabilise the union. How can giving the Welsh people more control over their own affairs and ensuring that Welsh people are governed by the Welsh, under a government of their choice, unlike the Tory years where Wales was governed by a government they didnt vote for, with Secertary of State that were from English consituancies, be a waste of money?

The claim that 60 politicans are now doing a job that use to be done by three, misses the point totally about devolution, the point was that Wales did not want to be governed by QUANGOs, non-elected officals and english MPs under a Tory government.

The fact is that the Welsh Assembly has used it's limited powers thus far well and has improved Wales and the lives of the people of Wales for the better, and that more powers will not lead to independence, not everyone who supports a full-law making parliament wants to see independnece, they just want to see a fair deal for Wales.

However it is good that a debate is happening on this issue, and that both sides of the further devolution arguement is being made.

Good on Gordon

Good on Prime Minister Brown for refusing to attend an European Union - African leaders summit, if the Zimbabwaen dictator, Magube attends. Zimbabwae under Mugabe has seen, the economy collasp, human and civil rights being ignore and trampled on, and a lack of any real and serious democracy. Alright so before Mugabe there was white minority rule, and that was not much better, but to use that as an excuse of continued suffering is wrong.

Gordon Brown is right to take this stand against Mugabe who's regime has tortures and attacks all those who stands against it, who takes all the food aid, medical aid and any other aid and distributes it to it's own supporters, who brutally oppresses every single movement that opposes the government.

Other European Union nations should follow the lead of Pimre Minister Brown and refuse to sit with such a tyrant, we need to send a message to the African Union that Mugabe's leadership of Zimbabwae will not be tolerated, and that they too have a responibility to put pressure on the government of Zimbabwae to change it ways.

The Anti-Devolution camp beware, more people want full law making powers.

A poll by the Insitute of Welsh Politics, University of Wales, Aberystwyth has shown an increased support for full-law making powers and a Welsh Parliament, since the narrow yes victory 10 years ago. 43% polled now want a full law making parliament, and this goes to over 50% for the under 35s, Labour especally must take heed of this, as the younger generation yarn for full law making powers.

Labour must return to the party of Welsh devolution, and not allow Plaid, the Lib Dems and even the Tories to push Labour out of that territory and into being seen as an Anti-Welsh Party, Welsh Labour needs to act back in the interests of the Welsh people and not the Labour MPs and Labour's majority in Westminister, otherwise Welsh Labour could suffer a real kicking at the next Assembly elections, not to mention loosing seats at Westminister and council elections, as the young seek more powers for Wales.

However to have a victory for a full law making parliament, the yes camp will need to motivate and organise the young to come out to vote, and vote yes. What could be a killer blow to the yes vote is apathy, like it nearly was in 1997, not only do do the yes camp need to win the arguement, but they also must get yes voters out to the polls.

The poll is encouraging, but it also shows that there is still some work to be done, and that some work does need to be done to convince the people who are unsure of which way they will vote.

People shouldn't fear that this will lead to independence, because if that comes, then that will be a different referendum, and that should not be hi-jacked by those who would want to protray this as a vote for independence.

Wales and the Welsh Assembly can do more and can achieve more for Wales, they need to be givnet he opportunity to make a serious difference to Wales and make sure that the clear red water between Cardiff and Westminsiter remains, and gets more clearer, so that we can have a real Welsh way of doing things and expand on the conventions and the Welsh way that is already in place over the pass decade of devolution.

That said, we cannot rush into a referendum on full law making powers, a defeated referendum will set back the yes vote for a generation, but, as I said, the poll from the Insitute of Welsh Affairs, is very promising and encourging, and that during this term a yes vote can be won.

Physically Sick

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has made me feel physically sick today, meeting Thatcher, who stands against EVERYTHING that Labour stands for, or should stand for. What does Brown exactly admire about Thatcher? the fact that she destoryed workers rights? the mass unemployment under her government?, the way she destoryed the miners and the mining communities?, the Me-culture she created full of selffishness and greed? her statement that there is "no such thing as society?" New "Labour" is a poison that is killing the Labour Party and the Labour movement as a whole, the base is decaying and without the base the party will collasp, it is happening already, and has happend. One of the only reason why I still support Labour is because of Welsh Labour and Rhodri Morgan's leadership of Welsh Labour.

I couldn't care less about what happends to New "Labour" in Westminister anymore, I am still feeling sick from the thought of it. I know Blair met her, which was bad enough, but a 2nd "Labour" Prime Minister is just too much, the sooner we have full law making powers, the better.

The second public inquiry into the Scarlets plan to move from Strady Park to a new ground, and funding it by selling off their studium ground to housing developers is ridiculous. They are now holidng an second public inquiry and wasting the local tax payers' money on something which is unfonded. The small group of whiners are now trying to claim that Stradey Park is, and should be classed as "village green" despite Stradey Park being private propety of Llanllia Scarlets, with fences and signs up warning people that it is private propety and to keep off.

This idiotic 2nd public inquiry shouldn't be held, it on a groundless arguement and it also risks Welsh Rugby, if the Scarlets go bankrupt that would mean that a massive area of Wales would loose it's region, and would do untold damage to the future of rugby in Wales. Since there has already been an inquiry, they should not hold a second one which is just a waste of money, to satisfy a minority of people, at the expense of the majority.

I hope that common sense in the end will preveil, and that not only does the Public Inquiry find in favour of the Scarlets, and that, if needs be, they will seek to reclaim the costs to the region from both the local authourity and the Welsh Assembly.

John Redwood publishes Policy Proposals

The latest set of policy proposals by the Tory Party, show that, for all the talk, the Tories are still the same old Party, and have not changed. The policy Proposals, written by John Redwood, are very right wing, are a gift to the Labour Party, who are already 10 points in the polls.

The policies proposed include the areas of taxes, regulation and public services, and on the whole it is the same old story of tax cuts or abolition, de-regulation, privatisation, attacking workers rights all in the name of making Britain more "competive" and lurging back to the right to please the right wing and old guard of the Tory Party.

The proposals show that the Tories are all talk, and spin about them changing and being more "compassionate" and "liberal" while they are nothing but hyprocrites, partaking in a cynical attempt to con voters. A case in point can be George Osborne attaking Gordon Brown from not "spreading the Wealth" enough
yet the following day, he turns around and joins John Redwood on the stage as they talk about abolishing inhertance tax and cutting other taxes, which again is something which the Tories again they would not do.

If they Tories were to abolish inhertance tax, and cut the Coproration taxes and all the other cuts they want to do, then how would they pay for it? Abolishing Inhertance Tax would cut a lot of money from the budget, and that would have to come from somewhere, and let's face it, the Tories would cut money from the NHS, education and other aspects of the welfare state, aswell as reducing the money that the already underfunded devovled insitutions get.

However it is not all about tax cuts, they also have decided to de-regulation, mainly meaining reducing workers rights and protection. This means opting out of the social charter, which would leave workers vunerble to expolitation by bad employers, they would repeal reguations on working time, date protection and money laundering, they have suggsted making health and safety regulation more "Proporinate" meaning reducing them so the workers would be less safe in the workplace then they are now, and allowing employers to cut corners in reguards to health and safety measures. John Redwood claimed that "de-regulation were at the heart of the proposals" and a tax cut by another name.

For all the talk of "Vote Blue Go Green" the Tory proposals on transport show that the Conservatives are not as green as they claim, although David Cameron's stunt with the bike with his car behind him has givne it away. They want to privatise the roads to allow more motorways to be built , they cant more privatisation of the railways, the oringal privatisationn of which lead tot he current crisis in our railway sytstem. How does more traffic, fit in with the Tories new "green" agenda? It can't and it doesn't. It yet again reveals the true nature of the Tories and that nature hasn't changed from the Thatcherite heart that is beating in it since the 1980s.

They also propose get rid of "restrictive" building regulations, which again could have an effect on the enviroment, depending which "restrictive" measure is removed, and the use of more private money for universities, which again is a traditional, right wing, Tory-type proposal.

This shows that the Tories are lurging back to the right. It does vindicate those in Plaid Cymru that didn't want to go into coalition with the Tories, and it does show that the Tories are still the nasty party, and that Labour is the party of social justice, compassion, and fairness.

Redwood lets the cat out of the bag

It seems the John Redwood has let the cat out of the bag, in a speech yesterday. His speech stating that "Tories plans to cut red tape would be a tax cut under another name" reveals that David Camerons attempt to change the Conservative Party has failed and they have now, yet again, lurched back to the right to try and appeal to their core supporters. Redwood revealed that cutting "red tape" is not the only plans up their sleeves, but they also want to "relax" (or scrap) health and safety rules, which means making the work place less safe for the workers, as well as scrap some rules on working hours and data protection (meaning more spam.) This report is not just written by Redwood, a well-known ultra Thatcherite Neo-Con, but also helped by George Osburne, David Cameron's closest friend and Shadow Chancellor.

The Tories still will cut taxes and vital spending in public services once in power, no matter how David Cameron tries to cover it up by his spin on changing the Tories into a caring and compassionate party. They have retreated back to the same old right wing agenda which the people of Britain have rejected many times bfore, and will do again.

More evidence of this comes from Redwoods interview on Newsnight, were he claims that the Tories would privatised Britain's inferstructure even more then it already has been, as he has further elbrorated on in today's Telegraph

The Tories wanting to expand motorways, airports, scrapping planning reguations and all the rest of it, goes against the Tories new "green" imagine, which has time and time again proven to be nothing by a false and cynical attempt by Cameron to con people into voting for the Tories for the enviroment, while all the time they don't really care about it, other then using it as a PR stunt. This document shows the kind of policies that the Tories would persue and the negitive effects they would have on the enviroment.

If the kind of policies that Redwood has propose are typical of the "new" Tory party, then Labour has nothing to worry about, because this is the kind of right wing manifesto that put many people off the Tories in the past, and will do again. Conservatives cannot change their spots, and these kind of statements from John Redwood, supported by Cameron prove that the Tories have returned back to their old right wing agenda. The review Redwood was working on will be published this Friday, and if it is anything like Redwood claims it is, then it will be a gift for Labour.

(Wow, talked about Redwood without even mentioning the embarassing incident with the Welsh national anthem when he was Welsh Sectertary in the 1980s, or the fact that he gave a lot of money back from Wales to Westminister despite it being needed....)

Scotland's Opt Out

Scotland is to have an Opt Out of flying the Union Flag on it's public "executive" buildings However this does not extend to Northern Ireland (which won't please the republic parties) nor will it Wales. Both Northern Ireland and Wales have legitimate reasons not to want to fly the Union flag. Northern Ireland have obvious reasons, which everyone knows about.

Wales also has reasons why not to fly the Union flag, other then the arguements over Welsh independence, or sticking with the Union. Wales is not featured on the Union flag in any way shape, or form, it does not represent Wales, there is nothing of the Welsh Flag, nor the flag of Saint David on it.

Why then, should Welsh public buildings fly a flag that does not represent Wales? In fact why should any public building fly any national flag? To me it seems like an out of date practice, and does not suit the culture of Wales, Scotland, N.Ireland nor England, and is only being proposed to please the vile right wing tabliods like the Daily Mail and The Sun.

In any case this will be a victory for the SNP, if the public buildings were made to fly the flag by Westminister, the SNP would make a point about it and try to use it to drum up support for Indepence, and this will give the SNP a victory as it can claim that this has only happend because the SNP are in power in Scotland, and there is already a change.

The best thing Brown can do is scrap the idea altogether and quit trying to please vile right wing rags.

Domino's Pizza Guilty of exploation

On BBC's Newsnight they have a story about what is a terrible and horrific case of worker expolitation in the UK.

Acotrding to Newsnight, Domino's Pizza have been illegally deducting pay from workers, sometimes leaving them in with negitive pay (as in - £200), the deductions have never been explained to the workers, nor to the unions.

What makes the sitution more sickerning is that they have sacked eight workers, who they claim had no right to work in the UK, however this came shortly after the workers complained about the terrible pay and conditions that they have to endure.

What makes this sitution worse is that the workers have their accomindation tied to their job, so the sacked workers now face the prospect of being homeless, aswell as jobless.

I really hope that the government takes action so that situtions like this don't happen, they must ensure that accomination is not tied to job, and enforce the minimum wage and close any loop holes which allow for wages to go into the negitives and the workers to be in debt to the company.

The government must do more to promote and protect workers rights, to ensure that all workers get, and can take collective action for, good pay and conditions in their places of work, and ensure that our pay and conditions are not underminded by employers who expolit immigrants, and that immigrants know what rights they have as a employee in this country.

High Court Idioticy

The high courts descion to save Shambo, the cow infected with TB is absolutely idiotic, and clearly comes from someone who has no idea of rural life and the threat that an animal that has TB poses to other lifestock, wild life and humans.

The high court claiming that it is a "breach of human rights" is the most ridiculous thing that I've heard, this is a "kick in the teeth" to every hard working, law farmers, who have allowed their animals to be killed because they tested positive for TB.

This judgement is a disaster for the sensible and pragmatic policy persued by the government of tackling TB, which could actually do a great deal of damage to our farming industry, putting every single cattle in Wales at risk, especally in the hot spot of TB like Camthernshire.

I doubt that the EU convention on Human rights in regards to religion were meant to be used in such a daft way, religion freedom should not infringe on the freedom and safety of others, including our farming industry.

Hopefilly come Friday, the descion will be overturned.

Tories are still anti-single parents

The latest Tory Policy proposals (not an actually policy as that would mean Cameron actually having to make a descion)shows that the Tories are still anti-single parent.
The policy proposals are full of the anti-signle parent policies of the failed Tory past, dressed up in different clothes, but however will still not help the poorest, and this is coupled with more Thatcherite attempts to destory the welfare state.

The Tory policy proposal has a number of things in it including a £20 tax break from married couples, which not only discriminates against single parent families (who are already some of the poorest in Britain), but also could force people to either enter into, or stay in an unloving relationship, because they are better off married in such a relationship then not, and I don't think that a child growing up in an enviroment wherre there parents don't really love each other, and do not want to stay together will be a good enviroment for that child to grow up in. It could well happen, since the tax "incentive" is there for them to do so.

Another policy which is even worse, is the Tory policy proposal of them forcing single parents to return to work, 16 hours a week when their child reaches 5, and 30 hours a week once their child is 11. Not only does this discriminate against single parent families, many of who struggle in already difficult circumstances to raise their children right, and do what is best for their child, however forcing them to go to work will make this job 10 times more difficult, not that the Tories care about single parents, nor the children from single parent backgrounds.

This policy will also have another side effect too, if the single parent is at work when the child is 11, and cannot be their for them once they come home from school, the child will be bored, and at home alone, this could very well risk the child becoming anti-social, and it will be the fault of a Tory government led by David Cameron, if that happends, not of the parent, who would be forced to work by this policy proposal. During the teenage years a child would be very vunerble, and this policy would make them more so. Then their are other issues of child welfare which this backward policy proposal by the Tories ignores.

Children are in single parent families of no fault of their own, and the Tories should not punish them because of this, a single parent family could be a result of mutual ending by the couple, because of a death of one of the partners, escaping an abusive relationships, and other possiblities, none of which can be blamed on the child, and many of which cannot be blamed on the parents either, yet the Tories would cause this kind of family to again suffer if the Tories were to return to power. These two policies show that the Tories do not care about families living in poverty, do not care about the worse off children in our society, and this policy will definitly not lift them out of poverty, and will certainly not "mend the break society" as David Cameron claims it would.

A more sinster aspect to this, is the privatisation of aspects of the welfare state, ontracting out "welfare to work" schemes, which would not benifit anyone on such schemes, but would make it cheaper for the government to do such schemes. However, the welfare state is there to help people who need it, and doing it cheapily to save money is not helping anyone but the government. This is a throwback to Thatcherism, and a move which would help the corrosion of the welfare state started by Thatcher, which must be stopped at all costs, if we had a real leader of the Labour Party, that had a backbone.

The Tories haven't changed, if this is the sort of policies they are coming up with. They are still a party for the rich, and of out of date victorian values.

On a salary like his, he can afford to call for a cut in the minimum wage.

Professor David Smith, of the University of Derby has recently called for a Cut in the minimum wage for everywhere in the UK apart from the South of England.

The Professor's so-called report claims that the minimum wage in Wales should be cut from the currently low £5.35, to an even lower £4.84, other areas of the UK also should get cuts, acording to Smith, the North-East should only get a pathetic £4.78, Yorkshire should got a lowly £4.94 and Northern Ireland just £4.80. He also claims tha the minimum wage is unfair for Londoners who should get an increase to £6.90.

He is right in one respect, that the minimum wage is unfair, but it's not unfair on just people on the South of England, but for everyone, it is unfair on youngsters, who do not have the right to the same minimum pay as people over 21, and it is also unfair becaue it's not a living wage, and it does not pay enough for people.

However without the minimum wage, many people would be living in a lot more poverty then they do at the moment, and it was a positive step forward, and it should not be the only step, nor the last step, but a progression towards a living wage that is fair for all.

I doubt that Professor David Smith has ever had to live on the minimum wage myself though, and that he earns a lot more then the people living on the minimum wage. Maybe before mking such idiotic statements like he did, prehapes he should go for a month livinge on the minimum wage, or on benifit, or on the wages he proposes, and then see if he thinks it is "too much", because if he had to survive on the merger amount that is paid, I doubt he would think that.

A New dawn for Wales?

Plaid had a very important descion to make today, do they join the All Wales Accord and form a coalition with the Tories and the Liberal Democrats, or to form a coalition with Welsh Labour and deliever a strong, centre-left, progressive government. The anwser was that they would form a progrssive coalition with Labour, and the "One Wales" document is a very good one, that offers a real opportunities to improve Wales.

One of the first commitments in the documents is a referendum on a scottish stlye parliament (finally), if public opinion permits it that is, and with a recent BBC poll giving support for a full-law making parliament with power to vary taxes being at 47%, with 44% against, if this poll is accurate then it indicates that there is still a sizable propotion of Wales that wants a parliament,however I believe that they can be won around, and have to be, because if we don't and hold a referendum that fails, it would be disasterous for both Plaid and devolutionists in other parties.

The next big thingis the ideas for the NHS, this document will end any threat and what little Privatisation that had happend in the NHS in Wales (and it was little) and will make sure that the Welsh NHS is fully publically owned, and remains true to the socialist principles, that the great Welsh man, Nye Bevan, founded them on. With no internal market,

The ending of PFIs in Wales, and private sector NHS hospitals is a huge, and positive step for Wales to take, and will greatly improve our health service in Wales, I think, since PFIs have shown to be a waste of public money in England and would have done the same here, Wales must show that an NHS true to it's socialist principles can work, and that it works better then the New "Labour" model, that would might help the centre-left in England win the arguement on the NHS, and end the PFI, privatisation programmes there, with Wales once again, leading the way.

The suspention of the right to buy, in areas were there is housing shortages, is another positive and progressive step, and another example of what the new Prime Minister Gordon Brown, can learn from this "One Wales" document. The housing crisis in Britain vcalls for radical action, and this kind of action might help end the crisis, along with the other actions also promised in the "One Wales" document, which includes more funding for social houses, and more. This again is a quiet a strong, social democratic, move by the "One Wales" document, and something which both members of Plaid and Labour should be proud of, if it is delieverd on.

The Welsh Language also does well in this, with extra funding, a new Welsh language act and more Welsh medium education, all of which will help protect and promote the Welsh language, which needs to be protected since it is a vital part of Welsh society, our culture and pyshe (although it should not be protected at the expense of English speakers, it does not have to be a "Zero Sum Game", as some in both Welsh Labour and Plaid seem to think.)

Even though I haven't gone through that I think is fantastic in this document (and there is a lot I really like), I think that this document is a radical, progressive piece that, if implement, will go a long why to improving Wales for everyone.

The Red-Green coalition is a sign that both Welsh Labour and Plaid has matured as political parties, and that the Welsh Assembly, after 8 years, has finally come of age, and is functioning like it is meant to, as a system of coalition government, of co-operation and that will improve the lives of the Welsh people, and when that starts to happen, and is showing to happen, I am sure that the Welsh people will entrust the Assembly with Scottish stlye, full law making and tax varying powers.

Former Conservative AM, David Davies MP for Monmouth (Not the one that stood for leadership of the UK party), who is infamous for his speeches against gypsies (here and here)as well as his outbust against homosexuals being allowe to adopt and education on homosexuality in schools. (here and here)

In his blog, he has recently stated that he thinks that foriegners shouldn't get NHS treatment without having insurance. This clearly bring up all sort of issues.

One of the first is, what if someone fleeing pesicution from another country arrives in Britain and either hasn't gotten or cannot afford insurance? (Or don't have insurance for any other reason) Are they meant to be turned away from having healthcare if they are ill?, just because they are "freeloading" as Monmouth's David Davies MP (the ex-AM one, not the cabinet one) has put it on his blog. If so, then that would be a very immoral and deeply wrong, this is because healthcare should be a human right for everyone, not matter were they come from, no matter how much money they got, no matter what illness or injury they have, nor anything else you can discriminate by, everyone single person should have the right to have good quality healthcare. It is unjust to leave someone to die, or suffer, just because they do not have the money, nor the documents, to show that they are "entitled to it," because that is not important, what is important is that the paitent gets treated for their illness.

Even if they can afford to have healthcare, then surely if it is under and insurance system, then they will only be entitle to the healthcare they can afford. This would mean that if they, while in Britain, suffer an injury, get serious ill or anything else which is outside the insurance they have, then they would be refused treatment and have to suffer. That is of course, if they even have insurance.

Then there is the issue of immigrants that have come to Britain to live, how long would they need to pay taxes before they become eligable for free treatment on the NHS? one week?, one month? a year? 2 years?

Another issue with this, is that this will create more bureaucracy, something which I thought Tories such as David Davies, were against? This would mean that they would have to have people checking that this insurance and verify that it is A-okay, and the key word in his blog I feel is " verifiable health insurance document.."
To verify it, would mean more work and bureacucracy, for both the NHS and the immigrant offices. This of course would mean that funds would have to be diverted from paitents (be them British or not) or immigrants and too chasing up to see if they health insurance document is "verifiable" or not. How does this tie-in with the Tory agenda on bureaucracy? I don't think more paperwork would decrease the "red tape" that the Tories want to remove.

Personally, I am glad that Britain is a compassionate nation that values our free healthcare service, and believes that everyone should have free healthcare no matter who they are, or were they come from. The problem is also not as widespread or as bad as David Davies has made it seem to be, because it is quiet costly and time consuming to book a flight, fly to Britain, get a hospital appointment, get treatment and so on, I don't think that all of that would happen within a day, not in any country. However it does go to show the mentality of some Tories, especally the most right wing ones.

I been tagged by Normal Mouth to do this, so here it goes.

Two things Gordon Brown should be proud of

1)The record investment in public services, the investment has led to improvements in health and education, the evidence of improvement is there, if you look at what it was like in 1990s and what it is like now. Waiting lists are lower then what they were, and state schools are now in a better state than in 1997.

2)Dispelling the myth that the Tories are the only party that can run the economy. Under 10 years of Gordon Brown being the Chancellor (longest time anyone has ever been Chancellor) we have seen economic growth, and have had a strong economy. Showing that Labour can be trusted with running the economy.

Two things he should apologise for.

1) The gap between rich and poor. It is too big and has grown under him, this is a big disaster and failure for a Labour government, and something which they should be ashamed about.

2)The lack of council housing. The housing crisis is something which has come about under this government, due to the sale of council homes and not enough being re-build to meet demand. The government should have invested more money into tackling this problem.

Two things that he should do immediately when he becomes PM.

1) Be himself. He should not try to act different to try and attract votes, because it is firstly what Cameron is doing, and if Brown tries to do it too it would make it more difficult to attack him and also the public are fed up with spin, and I believe that Gordon Brown can win votes by being himself.

2)Look again at the policy of PFIs, and if they are really improving education and health, and how they can be reformed so that they do work to imrpove services instead of being the black hole they are at the moment, or if they can be abolished without having a serious effect on services.

Two things he should do while he is PM.

1) Tackle the growing gap betwene the rich and the poor in Britain. This is one of the biggest crisis facing the UK today, and it is something that must be addressed, if Labour is to retain it's reputation as a caring party and a social democratic party.

2) Show David Cameron for what he really is.

Do we really want this man and his party running the country?

David Cameron, and the so-called "Modern" Conservative Party have, over the last few weeks, have again been proving themselves to be nothing but a party even more obsessed with spin, the polls and focus groups, then New Labour, with Cameron being the most guilty politican of the lot. The recent grammer school row is just one in a long line of flip-flops, U-turns and David Cameron being unable to make a solid decision.

Cameron's most recent flip-flop over muesum charges, the Tories floated ideas by Dave's Old Etonian friend Hugo Swire MP (Culture Spokesman) to abolish free entry to muesum entries (abolished under this Labour government), which was then said to be "under review" before being thrown out. Either that was a pretty quick reivew, or it is yet another example of the inability of Cameron to make any decisions and stick by them.

David Cameron's only belief is getting into Downing Street, he has no agenda, no principle and no ideas beyond spin, and saying what he thinks people wants to hear, instead of trying to be principled, and showing that he does have the ability to make the difficult decisions. Cameron does not have the ability to do that, if he becomes Prime Minister, he would not be able to run the country effectively, since he is a big political jelly fish.

Even if Cameron is sincere about shifting his party towards being a more liberal, caring and compassionate party. There are many on his back benchers and in the front bench that do not believe in it, and with the polls slowly getting worse for the Tories and better for Labour. How long before his party's right wing start speaking out more then they have already done with Grammer schools, or before they influlance his policy decisions even more.

It is also important not to forget that the this is the true face of Conservatism (demands to abolish the NHS), and that there is a serious threat that if the Tories get back into government, that Cameron would be too weak, and would make a total mess of the country, or would be too weak to deal with his troublesome back benchers, and if he is too weak to deal with those, imagine how he would be with dealing with more serious crisises, and making serious political decisions that will effect the future of Britain.

With the Plaid-Labour/Red-Green coalition still on the cards, any messages from the Lib Dems need to be taken with a serious health warning. Mike German and the Lib Dems will say anything and do anything to try and kill off the Red-Green coalition, and his recent message of "If the Rainbow fails we will look for a Coaltion with Labour" is a clear example of such an obvious attempt to try and kill off any deal between Labour and Plaid. As pointed out by another Lib Dem AM, that Mike German does not have the authourity to do such a move.

Labour and Plaid must not be sucked in by Mike German's words, which is nothing but an attempt to try and drive a wedge between Labour and Plaid, playing on the feelings of both party members. The Lib Dems have no intention of forming a coalition with Labour, they are playing Machiavellian politics, so that the Lib Dems get their feet under the cabinet table with a Rainbow Coalition.

The only choice for Labour, is that we go into coalition with Plaid for the next term of the Assembly (obviously after every Assembly election, all options should be re-opened), it be disasterous for Wales if the Tories got their hands back on power, and it would be a massive victory for David Cameron and would help him in the next Gerneral Election since he be able to point to Wales and say "Look, we have changed, look at Wales, and what we are doing there."

We must push ahead with the Plaid-Labour coalition, and do everything we can to get it up and running, and if we are to go into oppisition, it should be because we are forced into it, and not because we walked away, or allowed the Lib Dems to drive appart Labour and Plaid. However, the main goal of the talks needs to be a Red-Green coalition, that will last the full term of the Assembly.

(On another note, Labour's sister party, The French Socialist Party has lost the election, hopefully it only be for a short period.)

Question Time, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party debate

I've decided to blog on the deputy leadership of the Labour Party debate on Question Time. I will blog on what I think of each contender. My second blog of the day.

First Question is on Tony Blair's biggest Failure.

Hain: Affordable House, because of the priority on Health and Education during the first few terms. Lesson learn on doing more on Houses. Very good arguements by Hain there, and I do think Social housing is a key issue for Britain today.

Harriet: Tony Blair's been sucessful and gave us a strong economy. Biggest Failure is Iraq. WMDs were a mistken believe.

Blaers: Biggest Failure is not convincing Public that the criminal justice system is working. Arrogant and obnoxious are usual. Saids it's a top issue but not raised in hustings...hmmm.

Cruddas: Straight forward anwser, first of the night, simply Iraq.

Benn: Not closing the gap between rich and poor fast enough and good enough. Very good anwser there, very social democratic. Good anwser by him, a real serious Labour issue. Tackling poverty is a key issue for Labour, and for British society, as he rightly said.

Johnson: Tackling the issue of children in care. Statistics on all the problems caused by the failure on children in care, saying they are most disadvantaged.

Some good anwsers there and indications that some of the cannidates are interested and do believe in social justice.

Some questions for the aduience now. One on Iraq, why they not tackled it then.

Blaers: More or less avoided question. Said it was a First time the hosue had debate and vote on war. The same arrogance from her like on Newsnight.

Hain: Said he believed in the WMD arguement put forward, should strengthern international insitutions. Proud to be a progressive and internationalist.

Cruddas: Voted For it and regrets it, admits he made a mistake in voting for the war, Believed there was WMDs, but he knows it was wrong now.

Harriet: Wouldn't have voted if she knew then what he knows now. She saids she believed in WMDs, but said it has been a disaster for Labour, with many people leaving it. Mistake of good faith.

Johnston: Wouldn't made any other sdescions, first time debate and vote on war in the house.

Benn: Not asked, sadly.

Honest anwsers there by almost all of the contenders, Iraq is one of the biggest crisis facing the Labour government today, and a lot needs to be done by Labour to sort out the problems in Iraq, and also to attempt and regain the trust of the British people, which was lost over the WMD failures.

Had you been deputy leader, how things would be different:

Johnson: Not done anything different from Prescott, been discret and loyal to the leader.

Harriet: Pushed women agenda further up the political agenda

Hain: Re-connect the government to the grassroot, and stop bouncing policies on the membership out of the bklue. Bind leadership closer to the membership. Need to win back the 4 million votes lost at the last election.

Cruddas: Stop the hemeraging of membership, not taking any ministeral posts. Just deputy leader of the party.

Blaers: Connect the prime minister to communities. Every single cabinet minister seeing what works and don't work. She is one to talk about arrogance and out of touch, that is her to the parr.

Benn: Prescott has been a great deputy leader. Need politics that listerns to people, to deal with problems, restore conifdence in politics.

Again good anwsers there, and it is good to acknowledge that Prescott has done a good job, which he has done, and he did the job of keeping the party together internally, and seems to me to be quiet approachable.

Question from Audience: Jon Cruddas is popular with his principles, should the others take a leaf out of his book

Benn: Hopes the debate continues, not a "lurge back to the left" because these are issues people are concerned aobut.

Hain: Job of the deputy leader is to listern, increasing taxes is part of listerning to that. No label of New Labour or Old Labour, just Real Labour. Gordon Brown is furious with him, acording to the "feral" media, but Peter dismissed it as nonsense. Speaking for the grassroots.

Cruddas: Talks about the issues that people want to address, not "Old" Labour, need to build social housing, look the PFIs in the NHS, Conempary Labour, need to articulate needs of working people more.

Johnson: Jon is not "Old Labour", however party not broke with tradition, moved centre ground to the left.

Harriet: A Radical team that is realistic, basically her and Gordon should lead. She thinks Gordon and her has boardest support, and she and Gordon can deliver it. Got into government for being progressive, dealing with high unemployment, public services that were staved of funds, and a wrecked economy. We need to have radical polices, but we need to make changes to carry on shifting political centre ground to the left, and progressive.

Blaers: Concerned that moving away from the so-called centre ground is dangerous, strong economy and social justice combined. Keep taxes the same, against Peter Hain on this issue. Her arrogance shining through again here.

Benn: Election is not like the apprentice, but not given a chance to anwser it, thanks to Harriet interupting.

Good again to see some very good anwsers there form most. It is good to see that Labour cares about centre-left politics of social justice, inequality and progressive, social democratic politics, despite the lies and spin from rivial political parties. We have done a lot on these issues over the 10 years and have imrpoved Britian, and improved the lot of for the poorest of Britian, like it or not, that is the honest truth. It is good to see that the deputy leadership canidates want to see this carry on and have put out their stalls to carry this on, Labour is still a party of the centre-left, of democratic socialism and social democracy, and is the party of social justice and equality.

Special Relationship with US

Benn: Trancsends whoever is in power in America (Democrats or Republican) serves Britain well int he past and future

Johnson: ditto Benn

Harriet: We should be critical when we disagree with them, but not anti-American for the sake of it.

Hain: Need to deal with whoever is in the White House, our sister party, the Democrats are likely to get into presidency, something Hain is thrilled about. We need a progressive internationalist politics.

Johnson: Sure Start and 25% imrpoved in GCSE, more investment in education. Claims the question is not about education, but saids that the problem is in with the education system. We now have enough domestic doctors now.

Accusitions of Big Brother State from adueince.

Blaers: No 1984 state, international terrorism means we need to make these changes, to protect our society from criminals and terrorists. Balance is needed. No real anwser on what balance now. Just why it is go good. Arrogrance again.

Harriet: Villiange and balance is needed for civil liberties, balance is there with Human Right Act, introduced by this government. The courts can say that we breached human rights. It's about making people safe. Good points raised by her there. However she also opposed Guantanimo Bay, and thinks that it should be closed down, and a Security Council resolution over it. (which the yanks would veto) disclose prionsers being transported.

Which law should be removed from the last 10 years.

Cruddas: Change renewing tridant, and also allowing asylum seekers working. Too good ones there, great cannidate for the deputy leader.

Johnson: 17p on state pension was a mistake, should have been higher. Big mistake. Which is a pretty "left wing" point for him.

Blaers: Should implement more. Arrogrance again. Trying to be honest? I dont think she is.

Benn: Should look forward to the future, tution fees should stay because it broke back the mantainance grant and has helped more people get into education (which is correct) because it got rid of upfront fees.

Hain: Too many regulations, school trips is an example, since the paper work and hunt after wards, makes people too scared. Need a balance between protecting people, but pull back compostation culture. Which is correct.

Harriet: About if the legalslation address the problem is there, where is their too much legalsation. Disagreed with premiss of the question.

Good anwsers again, but in my opinion, pretty much a non question.

Will the deputy leader's have influlance over Brown?

Hain: We will have influlance, Worked with Grodon Brown over N.Ireland and he listerned to him. Can't do the party jsut as a party job but needs to be in the cabient. Sounds like a massive dig at Jon Cruddas there, who said he won't be in cabinet.

Blaers: Gordon has a clear idea over what his policies is. However been influlance over localism.

Harriet: Worked with Brown and been deputy with him before. She influlanced him over her time in the treasury. Was accused of being a patsy by David, which she slammed him for, and rightly so.

Johnson: He will listern and be influlanced. Aslong as arguements right and perserve to him.

Benn: Making the arguements and setting up the stalls, and Brown wil weight up the arguements for and agaisnt and will decide what is best.

Cruddas: Mandate to artiulate the view of the party to leader. Need to forcus on articlating party views to the government. That be the full time job.

A very important question to ask, due to the media and Tory Spin that Gordon Brown doesn't listern. Labour must prove that Brown is a listerning politican and someone who is willing to hear and act on what he hears. However that does not mean being too scared of taking the tough descions and flip-fliopping, like David Cameron.

Hain: Benn done a good job on international developement.

Benn: Harriet for argueing over childcare and women's issues.

Harriet: Cruddas, for putting the question of social/counciling housing on the agenda.

Blaers: Johnson, for bring in parentity pay and more wokrer's rights.

Johnson: Blaers, been a good chair of the party.

Cruddas: For being a skillful politican.

Hain not mentioned over N.Ireland, suprisingly.

End of programme, now. However many intresting issues raised there, and I think that the way I been intending to vote has been confirmed. All 6 cannidates put in strong showings, mostly. However I think that Cruddas came out on top of it, with Hain and Harriet both very close seconds.

However I be happy with almost any of these cannidates becoming deputy Leader, because they are all pretty strong. The only one I don't want to see is Hazel Blaers, whom would lead us to a Tory Government in 2009.

The rest are willing to listern to the membership, and are willing to speak up for what the membership believe in, and they all made pretty centre-left wing, social democratic points, which just goes and show that the Labour Party is the of social democracy, social justice, fairness, democratic socialism and of progressism.

More radical policies needed to tackle Child Poverty

A report today by former welfare minister Frank Field, has critised the government's policies on tackling child poverty, however not the sentiment, nor the ambitious and progressive targets set by the government.

The biggest problem with the system, the reprot argues, is that it discriminates against two parent families, especally those working, and it claims that levels of working poverty for children have returned back to 1995 levels, and that the government is set to miss the targets it set for itself.

The government must take a more radical approach to tackle and eradicate Child Poverty, which is a long term and one of the major goals of every Labour govenrment since the creation of the Labour Party. The progress that has been made so far has been very good, with the government lifting millions of children out of poverty.

However the targets are ambitions, and we need to have ambitions and radical policies to meet them. Labour must make sure that two-parent families and working families are not left behind in the welfare state, that they get the money, the help and the ability to get out of poverty.

This doesn't only mean increase the money they get, of course not. It requires more programmes to give families living in poverty help to climb out of it, it requires investing in education and also giving children living in poverty an equal chance in education, and making sure they start on even footing with the peers. It also means making progreess in changing the minimum wage to a living wage, ensuring that everyone can survive on minimum income, making sure that everyone gets a decent income for their work.

Free child care is also a must to help fight child poverty, this would allow more people to get into work if they have young children, of course they should not be forced into work, and forced to sue the free child care. However it should be there for those who do want to work.

As I said earlier, the progress that has been made so far is good, however the ambitious goals set by the government, mean that ambitious and radical policies are needed, if this Labour government is to eradicate child porverty, which would be an amazing legacy for any social democratic government.

Labour must re-offer Plaid a formal deal

Adam Price the Senior Plaid Cymru MP has called upon Welsh Labour to re-offer Plaid a Red-Green Coalition (here and here) and there is a serious case for Welsh Labour to offer such an agreement to Plaid Cymru and go into a red-green coalition, and the reasons for which are the following:

Firstly the current minority government, going along with 'progressive agreements' is unsustainable, Labour cannot keep saying to the opposition, "here we will do this for you, by the way here is our backside give it a kick while you at it" because sooner or later they will kick it hard enough to get Labour out of the door and into opposition, and would end up damaging how electable Welsh Labour is for quite a while. It is also even more important that we get a working consensus in the Assembly, Wales cannot cope with an unstable government that could fall at any moment, it would not be good for the people of Wales, nor will it be good for Welsh democracy. A struggling government trotting along for months with an opposition just waiting to get the boot in, is very, very bad for the governance of Wales, and would be the fault of both Welsh Labour and the current opposition parties, and the Welsh public shouldn’t forgive any of them, if they were to allow this farce to go ahead, like it is at the moment.

Another reason why Labour needs to team up with Plaid, is because it would be the best thing to get a radical, centre-left and hopefully socialist agenda on the cards. This would have to include getting a full-law making parliament, like the one Scotland has. This is because the current Assembly’s powers is too limited to make any real impact on fighting poverty and inequality in Wales. A full-law making parliament however would give Wales the ability to make serious measures to bring more social justice, fairness and equality to Wales. However a full-law making parliament in Wales should only be an ‘end to a means’ (more social justice), rather then Plaid’s means to a end (independence). Plaid should no-longer be seen as the enemy, or as an reactionary nasty nationalist party, but as an ally in the cause of making Wales a progressive nation.

There is also the case that, if Labour attempt to conduct a coalition deal with Plaid, in an open, honest, serious and fair manner, willing to listen and concede on many issues with Plaid, all talks must be done as openly as possible. This way we could put the ball in Plaid’s court. Plaid would have to show their hand, they would either have to come into a coalition with Welsh Labour, or turn around and admit that they want power for themselves, and don’t even want to listen seriously to what Labour have to offer (if the latter is indeed what Plaid want.) However if that is to work, Welsh Labour would have to give Plaid no real excuse to turn down the deal, and do anything reasonably possible from Labour’s end.

The way forward for Wales is Red-Green coalition with Plaid, that would give Wales what they really voted for in the Assembly elections, and would bring Wales forward into a modern and mature democracy, with the radical ideas and progressive values to improve the value of life for everyone in Wales.

Time to build a progressive alliance, and let the left really win in Wales

The election of Rhodri Morgan as First Minister under a minority Welsh Labour government, is firstly a victory of progressive, left wing socialist politics and shows that, in Wales at least, the European left is very much still alive. In fact 63% voted for progressive centre-left parties in Wales (Welsh Labour, Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats), and they have gotten what they wanted, NO Tories in the cabinent. The fact is Labour, Plaid and the Liberal Democrats have more in common with each other, then they do with the Conservative Party, and people like Darren Miller AM (Tory).

The make-up of the third Assembly and the (hopefully long term) end of the "Rainbow Allaince" has given Wales a unique opportunity to go down a new path, a path were Labour,Plaid and the Liberal Democrats co-operate more closely and work together for a common goal. However this will require a change in attitudes in all the political parties, especally Welsh Labour, who haven't had the same opportunity as Plaid, Tories and Liberals have of co-operation during the past term of government.

Welsh Labour must forgive Ieuan for wanting to jump into bed with the Tory Party, it is understandable that he wanted to be First Minister at any cost, however that does not make Plaid Cymru "weak dafodil Tories" and I do not believe the party are a reactionary right wing party. The Liberal Democrats are another matter, since they swing all over the place.

During this next term, Welsh Labour need to learn and modernise itself to adapt to the Propotional Representation which Wales has, through the minority government it has to learn about co-operation, cabinet coalition and working with other parties for a common goal. The Welsh Labour Party also need to modernise in other ways (however I do NOT mean becoming another Blairite New "Labour" party as that would be disasterous), but that is another matter.

Was the assassin's bullet fired tonight?

The Liberal Democrats in Wales rejecting to do deals with either Labour or Plaid and the Tories, has left Wales in political limbo. Will we see a Lab-Plaid informal coalition (or formal with any luck?) Or will Labour trot on in a minority government for a while, until something better for Wales can be sorted out (Lab-Lib, Plaid-Lab or other, since a minority government is not good for Wales) ? Or will Plaid and Tories try and go it alone with the sort of Trish Law (not at all likely, and electoral suicide for Plaid and Trish.)

However you have to wonder if tonight was the firing of the assassin's bullet at Mike German in the Liberal Democrats, otherwise why else would they want to turn down a deal with both Labour and Plaid+Tories? It makes little sense to me, since either way they would have seen Liberal Democrat policies on the table and put into action, and Liberal Democratic ministers around the cabinet table.

The argument about the Welsh people not wanting Labour nor the Tories, nor Plaid in government is mute, because the Welsh people want a government and a majority of them did vote for a majority government, be it Plaid-Lab, Lib-Lab, Rainbow or other. They do not want a minority Labour government, not even Labour members want that (at least ones with any sense), and they definitely do not want to see another election in a few weeks time, they would disastrous for the three main political parties (Labour, Plaid, Tories) and especially the Lib Dems (don't think they deserve to be called a main party after this), as well as devolution and Wales as a whole, it could even set back a referendum on further law making powers for a long time, and that would be a very Bad thing, since Wales needs more powers.

I feel this was internal Liberal Democrat politics, and if it is, the Welsh voters should not and hopefully will not forgive the Liberal Democrats too easy, and their reputation will be knocked for six. The Lib Dems will be damaged for this, but I fear the damage will leak over to all the other parties, especially Labour and Plaid Cymru.

This could be the biggest disaster to hit devolution, and it is now up to Labour and Plaid Cymru to sort something out fast and come to a face saving compromise for Labour, for Plaid and for Wales and Welsh devolution, or otherwise Wales will become a massive laughing stock and public opinion on devolution will drop like a stone, and that is something I don't think anyone in Welsh politics wants.

Hodge helps the BNP cause, again.

Yet again government minister, Margaret Hodge, has assisted the BNP cause, this time by calling for British families to be favoured over immigrant and asylum seekers, when it comes to the allocated of council houses.

This, she claims, is because British families feel they have "a legitimate sense of entitlement" to the limited amount of social houses, and stated that the rules should "promote torlerance, rather then inviting division." Now maybe I am being a bit stupid here, but how does implying that the shortage of council house is the fault of immigrants "promote torlerance..." I would have thought personally, that making such claims would invite division and encourge more people to vote BNP, rather then create unity and encourging people to vote Labour.

The fact is, policies of discrimination, be it agaisnt British people, or immigrants, will not help the council housing crisis that many people in Britain face today, what should be done to try and help improve the sitution is revoking the right to buy for the short term (however the right to buy is not a bad thing in itself), and also build more decent quality council homes (even if it means building over"green field" sites) and also more help for people to get onto the housing market, so the social housing system us not over burderned because house prices are too expensive.

We must not pander to the far-right to try and counter them, we must offer clear alternatives that can work, and it is not the fault of the immigrants that there are a lakc of council housing it is the fault of New "Labour" in the failure to build new houses, provide the funds and make sure that councils build them, its the failure of New "Labour" to make sure that people can afford to buy houses and get onto the housing ladder, however the government still has time to sort out the problem, by building new good quality council houses and by making sure that people can get onto the housing ladder, and not by pandering to the BNP. The fact is immigrants and asylum seekers do not get that much help from the state, they are not entitled to council houses and they have already got restrictions on their benifits.

It is a dangerous path to go down, when you start rationing services on the base of where people are from, how long before immigrants are denied NHS treatmet in favour of British people?, or places in state schools favour British pupils and not immigrants, and how long is it before immigrants end up as second class citizens, in the underclass of our society?

However it is not suprising that Margeret Hodge has made such statemetns, as she has made simular ones reguarding the BNP before, she should be offering real solutions to these problems, not trying to boost her own popularity by spouting off vile claptrap like she has down, and not by possibley floating ideas that may possibley be planted by some elements to test the water, prehapes, not saying that is the case though, but it is not unknown.

However such claims as the ones made by Margeret Hodge will only cause more racism and more resentment amoung people who feel that they are being negelected by the British government and will only serve to drive them into the arms of the BNP, for that Hodge should resign and not stand in the next election.

Post Office Closures

As someone who lives in a town and uneffected, I may not know what I am talking about ("What's new?" I hear a lot of you say), however I do believe that these closures are wrong, and deeply bad for social justice and rural communities.

This is because Post Officers are vital public services for those who use it, and even though that might be a minority of people in some rural areas, it is still important for them, what the New "Labour" government fails to understand in Westminister that some people do not own the internet, they may not even own a computer, that means that they cannot use the internet to print off stamps, nor can they send e-mails to people. Their is also the fact that some of them won't own a car or are unable to drive for whatever reason, how are they meant to get into a town to post a pracel? Public transport is a shambles and can be quiet expensive to use it just to get into town to do a simple thing like posting a parcel, which they could have done in their local post office.

If people are not using the Post Office, it could well be because the govenment has removed a lot of services from there (dare I suggest that this was a long term plan of theirs with the conclusion of privatisation yet to come?) however some people still need and use the post office, its an important stone in the community.

Closing them would hurt vunerble people, and leave them without anywhere to turn to, that is not what the Labour Party was meant about, we are meant to be the party protecting the vunerble and the worst off, not doing some crackpot money saving cuts, it's a public service, if it is making a loss (which is the fault of withdrawing services) fix it by returning the services there, or doing something else to keep the open (like proper nationalisation), closing them down is the wrong thing to do.

With more closures planned in deprived urban areas, this policy will only serve to be regressive and against the principles of the Labour Party. If New "Labour" truely wanted to be a progressive party, it would keep the Post Offices open and keep them as a true nationalised company, instead of this crazy package of closure, to "save money" and attempt to justify privatisation, which would have even worse conquences then the closures.

Anyone up for a Threesome?

Well it seems like abysmal Mike German has lost the battle in his pathetic party and has now conceed to the right wing about having a threesome with Ieuan Wyn Jones of Plaid and Nick Bourne of the Tories. This saids alot about the Liberal Democrats, how they are willing to jump from the centre-left with Labour, to the Centre-right with Tories so easily, it shows that they have no principles beyond that of power, that is why the Lib Dems are everywhere saying different things to different people (including one asking me to tatically vote AGAINST Plaid in Ceredigion, and then they turn around and do this, very hyprocritical of them, as usualy) and try to be everything to everyone and nothing to nobody.

In councils the Lib Dems and Tories run, they cut services and cut funding to services, they are more like European Liberal, then European Social Democrats, and if the voters didn't want Welsh Labour, then they certainlly didn't want the Lib Dems, who only had 6 seats, and the lowest amount % of the vote of any political party in the Assembly, yet try and claim the democratic high ground (again a sign of the hyprocracy of the Lib Dems.)

Mike German is not a leader, never has been, he is a follower, he followed Labour into coalition in 2000, when it suited him, and he is following the lead of Ieuan Wyn Jones and Nick Bourne, it is time for the Lib Dems to sack Mike German and get rid of this aimless leader, and get in a person who actually will lead the Lib Dem and not follower the smell of power and the lead of those who will grant him it.

Hopefully Plaid will have more principles and will show themselves to be socialists, aswell as nationalists, and will re-consider the threesome, which would hurt Plaid in the South Wales Valleys, and would show Wales that Plaid has sold their soul and done a deal with the Tory Party, that's legacy is still felt across Wales by many people.

New Layout, New Start?

Been such a long time since my last post (been extremely busy with my dissertation and revising for the exams) that I feel that prehapes now is the time to treat this as a re-start, so to speak, and attempt to get back into the swing of blogging.

Of course Blamerbell's post claiming that young people as "embarassed" to be Labour, well I am not, I am proud to be Labour and I am proud of everything Labour has done for Britain since 1997, never mind 1945. Even under Tony Blair, Britain has become a more progressive and socially just nation, Rhodri Morgan has done an even better job of leading Wales from the decadence of the Tory years.

In Britain, thanks to Tony Blair, we have the minimum wage, devolution, 4 weeks paid holidays, child benifit has increased, pensioners are better off (despite some of them complaining otherwise, although I will hold my tongue on them, for now...), cut crime and unemployment, ban on the cruel....activity of Fox Hunting, 26 weeks paid maternity and 2 weeks paid parently leave, free entry to muesums and art galleries, since 1997 Labour has lifted over 2.1 million children out of absolute poverty, we have repealed homophobic laws brought in by the Tories and have legalised homosexual civil partnerships, lead the way to tackling third world poverty and not forgetting peace in Northern Ireland, which could well be the greatest achieve of this Labour government.

In Wales, Welsh Labour has introduced Free Prescriptions, Free school breakfasts, free entry to swimming pools during school holidays for school children, free bus passes for pensioners, smoking ban in public places, more people are now in work then in 1999, Welsh Labour in the 2007 Assembly elections were the only party to say that all of their policies will be measured by now they tackle Child Poverty.

Britain is in a far better shape then it was in 1997, it is more fairer and more socially just then it has was during the 18 years of Tory misery, Labour supporters have a lot to be proud of, the achieves of the Labour government since 1997 have been good, no-where near bold enough and no where near radical enough, but never the less it is still a lot better then what we would have if the Tories were still in power, we now have schools which have new and decide equiptment, new buildings and buildings in that were in dire need of repair during the Tory years are now repaired, we have more people from poorer backgrounds going to university, or less discrimination against homosexuals in the law and education, these are things which not only Labour members, supports and voters should be proud of, but every decent person in Britain should be.

I for one am proud to be Labour and proud of the progress made by Labour since 1997, maybe it could have been more socialist, but it has still be progressive and has still made millions of lives in Britain, and in the third world, much better off then they would have been since Labour has been in power, we have made Britain into a stronger nation, a nation that now has more social justice and equality then it had since 1979. If some jumped up middle class students can't see past their own pockets and Iraq, then that is there own problem, as a working class student, a socialist and a proud card carrying member of Labour, I am no-where near embarassed to be Labour and, to paraphrase Tony Blair, be it Old Labour or New Labour, it is better then a Tory Government.

The difference between Labour and the Tories is the same as always

The Tories recently "tax breaks" for married couples policy accouncement is prove that the Tories are the same old reactionary right wing political force. This tax cuts for couples is nothing more then the old Tory Policy of discriminating against single parents, who work hard to raise their children in sometimes very difficult situtions, who are usually in the worse off then married couples, this is simular to old Tory policies of the past, which discrimianted against people who were single parents, who don't care about people who are usually at the bottom end of the ladder, despite all there parading around about being "compassionate" and "modern" under the toff called Cameron.

This policy is also dangerous that it might end up forcing partners stay together, in what might be a violent and abusive relationship (be it the wife or husband the one doing the violence and abuse), just because they now have the added danger that they will now loose their "tax break"
which a Tory government would give to married couples.

However I think, especally after watching question time that if this is the kind of policy that the Tory Party under Cameron is coming up with, and that it is cuasing hostile responses from the public like it did in Question Time, then I say that I look forward to more of these kind of policies from Cameron and a 4th Term Labour government under Gordon Brown, as it stands.

Prince Charles, The Green Git

Who the heck is Prince Charles to tell people to go green? When he and the spongers called the Royal Family are hardly carbon friendly themselves! Prince Charles who flies around the world on a luxery plane that is just him and his advisors and media personal, the same Prince Charles that drives around everywhere with a number of cars in a convouy! How Green is that?

How green is it having as much houses as he has? How many of those houses have all their light coming from engery saving lightbulbs? Surely if he wants 'go green' that would be a very good start.

How about his favourite animal cruelity hobby of Fox Hunting? (which thankfully the Labour
Government has taken some positive steps towards getting rid of, but not radical enough) How green was chasing a poor, terrifed fox half away across the countryside and then letting your dogs savage the poor creature and then smearing the blood on your sons' heads in some brabaric ritual, I don't see that as very ecologically friendly myself either.

The Royal Family are not green, they are not even close. Prince Charles, the big earred moron should just learn to keep his mouth shut, no one want or even cares what that overprivillaged idiot has to say, and the press usually ridicule him in any case (and so they should).

Then again, I didn't think Prince Charles would ever champion something decent as Fair Trade, since it is not the latest band wangon for him to jump on at the moment.

£32 billion PFI profit is an insult to Nye Bevan and the NHS

With the New "Labour" government closing hospitals and cutting back on the NHS it is very telling that PFI's are making a massive profit at the expense of the paitents and the health service. While this "Third Way" government is selling off the NHS and are seemingly privatising it bit by bit (alledgly privatisation via the back door) the Private companys are raking it in, and all the government can do is ome out with the same old clap trap that they do not reconise the figures and are commited to a public funded NHS.

While sadly Blairites do not believe in publicly funded anything, they want "marketisation" and they are of the false believe that the market and private companies run things better (seemingly ignoring the distasters of a privatised railway and waterworks.....) they do not, all New "Labour" care about is low taxes for Middle England, and their rich buddies (aswell as 'rewarding' them with peerages.)

They probably still see the NHS as "Old" Labour and Socialist, and of course, it is something which America opposes and with Tony Blair trying to make Labour into the British version of the Democrats (or is that Republicans) instead of a good, electable and pragmatic European Social Democratic party, like it should be. The PFI approach is not working too while, it is draining money from the NHS, with a report saying it costs the NHS £53 billion, with the current cut backs due to a shortage of money and New "Labour" being opposed with the NHS loosing money, that £53 billion could have been spent on writting off the money and better paitent care, rather then wasted on PFIs and profit for fat cats that run the PFIs.

Hopefully Rhodri Morgan is right and that New Labour has had it's day, otherwise it will eventually condemn Labour to political nothingness, as democratic socialists, social democrats and other traditional Labour supporters either don't vote, or decided to vote for other Parties that are more in line with their view points. Because no-one want's to vote in an unpragmatic and unelectable party, like New "Labour" is currently making Labour.

Farepak Cancels Christmas

The collasp of Farepak has devestated many families who have lost their Christmas thanks to the greed and neglence of both Farepak and the HBOS (Halifx Bank of Scotland).
Some of the most poorest and vunerble families in society will not have a Christmas, while the rich executives that run HBOS, EHR (European Home Retailing, the Parent Company of Farepak) and all the others that are high up and invovled with Farepak.

At least there is some small light of hope for them with the rescue fund, which the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Ian McCarthy (Labour MP) has asked MPs to donate a days pay too, which he has himself and many MPs have, to date 107 MPs from Labour, compared to 11 Tory MPs and 10 Liberal Democrats. (as of 11th Novemember)

Oh by the way I also see that the spirit of Scoorge is alive and well in the Tories.

Many companies have also put thier hands into their pockets to help out the farepak family fund, and some of them had nothing to do with Farepak, including Sainsbury, Tesco and Boots, who have donated some of their profits to the action fund, which is more then can be said for HBOS, who are partly responible for ruining Chrismas for many families, have only donate a drop in the water compared to the billions which they have.

What is also unfair is the way which the laws reguarding what happands when a company goes bankrupt operates, instead of the money taken/stolen from customers going back to them (in this case most of them are not very well off at all) it goes to line the pockets of fat cat rich businessmen and women who fill their boots with the money from the company thats gone broke, while the workforce and the customers get what little pennies is left over at the end, I personally believe it should be the other way around, with the workers and customers getting what they are owed first, and then the rest being destributed between the lawyers, fat cat business people and other crediters, not I doubt that will ever happen.

However more regulation must be in place to protect people who use hamper firms and other like companies to ensure that profit is never put before people again.

(Ps. I know this blog entry is a bit all over the place, but it is something I felt strongly about for some time now and reading Ed Vaizey Tory MP's blog entry has made me decide to write a blog saying what it is right to donate to helping the people effected by Farepak.)

Why I am proud of Welsh Labour

There are many reasons to be proud of the Welsh Labour government in the Welsh Assembly, and their socialist values demostrated by the commitment to social justice and fighting poverty and inequality in society. Here are some of the examples of why I am proud to be Welsh Labour:

5)Free School Breakfasts for Primary school children:

I think this is postive because many children go to school without a proper breakfast, even when I was in primary school I remember other children saying that never had breakfasts. It is shown that a meal at the start of the day is not only healthly, but also helps children concentrate.

4)Free bus travel for the over 60s and disabled in Wales

Another good, social democratic move by the Welsh Labour government in the Assembly, enabling people to travel further then they may not have been able too if they had to pay for it.

3) Free swimming for children during School holidays

A good measure to help keep children active and fit.

2) Securing EU objective one money for Wales.

A lot of people bash ythe EU, however they ignore its benifits, like the objective one money that comes into the poorest parts of Wales, this has helped the economy, secure jobs or even create jobs and is helping deprived communities up and down the Wales, this would not have been secured again if it was not for Welsh Labour fighting for Objective one for Wales. Plaid Cymru said it couldn't be done, nor did the any other Parties think Wales could get objective one, but we have got it.

And I think the most proudest thing for this Welsh Assembly Government, under Welsh Labour so far is....

1) Having the cheapest Prescriptions inWales with them being Free by 2007.

I think that speaks for itself, free healthcare is one of the key cornerstones in Socialist philosphy and Free Prescriptions in Wales will be a tribute to, probably the greatest Socialist Britain has ever seen, Nye Bevan, and his vision of the NHS which be brought in and the idea of Free healthcare for all at the point of need, that has worked and is working so very well in Britain
today.

There is still a lot more to be done, and Welsh Labour is the party saying that they will do that, and that they are willing to carry out the Socialist and Progressive Values that Wales has and that Welsh Labour shares, be it tackling Child Poverty, Free Prescriptions and ensuring everyone has a decent education.

I see that David Cameron has come up with yet another idea to tackle crime, just show the criminal waving a knife in your face a lot more love.

This is another obvious attempt by the David Cameron to appeal to the liberals (before turning around to his Tory buds and saying that he is not serious, just trying to say it to win....) along with "Hug a Hoody" this is another hair brained scheme that shows that Tories have no substance and not real policies beyond that of saying anything to win, and trying to appeal to everyone be their colours Red (yea right, as if any Democratic Socialist/Social Democrat/Labourite will vote Tory), Yellow (with the oxymoron "Liberal Conservative") and his true Blue Colours, oh and of course the Green colours he likes to pretend to were (riding a bike to work while having a car follow you with a clean shirt and flying to the Antartic and back just for a photo seems to be very irresponible in terms of being ecologically and carbon friendly to me....)

David Cameron is about nothing, he only stands for spin and PR and nothing else, and if he ever becomes Prime Minister then Britain will be in a lot of trouble, since I do not believe he has anything beyond words to other the public and once in office he would melt. (though hopefully he will never ever be anywhere near any serious office)

But if he does get in, just remember if you see some thug threaterning you with a knife, just walk up th them, give them a hug and tell them how much you love them and emphesis with them and how you feel their pain and suffering, maybe even give them a little kiss. Who knows, they might bring you a bunch of grapes or some flowers when your in hospital with knife wounds, although it would obviously be brought with your own money from the wallet they stole from you while you were in a bloody puddle on the floor after the thief stabbed you in the stomach while showing them love..............

The resignation of the junior ministers has damaged the party.

The disasterous resignation of several junior members of the Labour governmen t has done alot of damage to the Labour Party, more so then Tony Blair carrying on would do.

The media coverage of the resignation and the unthinking, low ranking government ministers has given the impression that the Labour Party is split and bickering within itself, it does not help Labour and they haven't helped the Pary at all.

If people like Tom Watson want to look at what is "in the interest of either the party or the country" then they should look at what they have done today, of how they have made the Party look and what the damage will be, like it or not, Mr.Blair has been the most electorally sucessfull Prime Minister Labour has had (Policy wise though, I would argue that Mr.Attlee is the most Sucessful.)

I am sure that many party members feel like myself over this issue, and that is annoyance at those 8 for what they have done to the party, it is not helpful, it is not right and it is not how the Labour Party should be conducting itself over something as important as who, not only leads the Labour Party, but who leads Britain for the next 2 - 3 years and will fight for a 4th term for a Labour government, it makes the party looks too self-absorbed and self-obessed, about it not about policy or running the country, it makes Labour look unfit to govern.

The 8 that resigned are not only putting a fourth term Labour government at risk but they are also putting at risk victory for Scottish Labour in the Scottish Parliament elections, victory for Welsh Labour in the Welsh Assembly elections and victory for Labour in the local council elections, all of which may end up with voters punishing Labour for being disunited, for being too inward looking, if Labour looses those elections the blame can no-longer be balmed on Tony Blair, but on the actions of the junior ministers who today has resigned over the leadership issue, in an extremely irresponsible manner.

As anyone who has read my blog knows, I am no Blairite, far from it, however I don't think that any grassroots member of the Labour Party wants to see Tony Blair go in such a terrible manner and neither do I believe that voters want to see Tony Blair be booted out in this way, all the 8 have done is given an open goal to "Dangerous Driver" Cameron and Ming the Merciless, they have done nothing but bad for the Party.

For the sake of the Party and the British People, Labour needs to be united together, we do not need this petty in fighting, I do not believe this is a plot by Brown myself like many of the Blairites are trying to suggest, for their own selfish reasons, this is just 8 idiots making a bad descions, however the entire party no matter what their idealogical positions are, need to be united and need to stand together, shoulder to shoulder, because we are brothers and sisters within this great movement, comrades in arms, and we must never forget that, I didn't think that we were like the Tory Party, that we didn't back bite and fight and plot against each other, however this sitution shows that is not no longer the case, and that this will be seen rightly or wrongly, as another example of the destructive nature of New Labour and how Blairism has damaged Labour.

For the sake of the Labour Party, for the sake of the future of Britain, the cabinet and every Labour MPs need to united behind the new leader whetever he or she is a Brownite or a Blairite, we need no more of this non-exisitant devision, there is no difference between Blair or Brown, only in the eyes of the Blairites is there a difference, however in the eyes of everyone else there is no real difference.

The Blairites need to unite behind Brown if he wins, for the sake of Labour, it is not, neither has been and nor will it ever will be The "Tony Blair" Party, and some Brownites need to understand that whatever plotting they maybe doing, is not helpfull for Gordon Brown nor the Labour Party as the whole.

Tony Blair must resign at the Party Conference or at least by the end of the year aswell, to avoid this sitution from carrying on any longer and to ensure that the Labour Party will be fighting fit for a possible 4th term victory. It would be for the good of the party and it might just help him be remembered better in the Labour Party as a leader who resigned for the sake of the party and not as a leader who hung on desperately as he went down and took down the Labour Party with him, and trhe Blairites must accept that his time as come and that for the sake of the Party they must pull together behind Gordon Brown, because the Party is bigger then one man, the Party is not the "Tony Blair" party it is bigger then one idealogy, it is not the "Blairite" Party, it is the LABOUR Party, and everyone in the Labour Party MUST remember that, otherwise, as a party, Labour is doomed.

4 reasons I am proud to be Labour (Westminister)

I know that I have had a few blog entries here bashing the New "Labour" government, however I am a Labour supporter and I do believe that even this New "Labour" government with it's many flaws has done a lot of good for Britain since 1997.

There is also a reason why I mentioned Westminister in brackets, and that is because of devolution and the differences betwen the Labour government in Westminister, Welsh Labour government in the Welsh Assembly and the Scottish Labour government in the Scottish Parliament, and I will mention my reasons why I am proud of Labour in the Welsh Assembly in a later blog entry. (probably tomorrow)

Anyway, here are my 4 reasons why I am proud of be Labour and proud of the New "Labour" government in Westminister, despite for all its flaws and mistakes:

1) Introduction the National Minimum Wage

This must have been one of the most important things that the New "Labour" government has done for the worse off in Britain. This ensured that working people were now entitled to have a minimum level of income and were no longer subjected to wages that were ridiculously low wages. The minimum wage is also raising at a reasonable level. We cannot have masses leaps because that would damage the economy, but slow, low increases that are measured and reasonable can be done with little risk to economic stablitiy. This would have NEVER happend under a Tory government, nor would the Lib Dems ever had introduced such a thing. The minimum wage, Labour's minimum wage has helepd raise the standrd of living for many people, and helped pull much out of poverty in the UK.

2) Workers now enjoy four weeks’ paid holiday, at least one day off per week and decent rest breaks.

This is again another helped more people spend more time with their families, because now they can take time off work without risk of not having an income during the time off. This is a strengthing of workers rights which any Labour government should do and should be proud of doing.

3) New mothers have 26 weeks' paid maternity leave, fathers 2 weeks' paid paternity leave.

Again like the above reasons it is strengthing the family and workers rights, ensuring that both mothers and fathers have some time to look after a new born baby and still have an income, so parents do not have to make the hard choice of looking after a new born baby or going to work and getting some income to the family.

4) £200 winter fuel payment to pensioners & extra £100 for over 80s

I know that many OAPs scoff at the governments efforts to help the pensioners. However Labour has done a lot to tackle pensioner poverty, especally fuel poverty, and the government is not credited enough for this.

Labour has still done a lot since 1997 and has made Britain a better and stronger place, with thier social justice policies, economic stablilty and measures to tackle crime, and I am proud of Labour.

Arabs on a Plane

I got a prefect idea for the sequel to "Snakes on a Plane", how about "Arabs on a Plane."

The plot can follow something of the following, there is a flight between two countries, say Spain and Britain, on this flight, while the passengers are boarding, there are these two Asian men and they start talking in a language which the white passengers don't understand, now these could be Arabic, or it could well be another language like French, German, Indian, Chinese, Welsh, Gaelic or whatever, so long as the English don't understand it. Now this causes mass panic with all the English passagers, who refuse to board the flight and comfort there fearfull children.

However a lone, brave, off duty America Air Marshell saves the day, as he single handedly tackles these evil Arabs, and prevents them getting on the flight and foils their plan to fly the plane into Air Force One, which is on the way to the UK to Meet the British Prime Minister, in a plan that would distablise the world and lead to Bin Laden taking over the world from his Iranin HQ!

The two 'Arabs' at the end are bravely shot by the American, in a last ditch attempt to save a member of the cabin crew he has fallen madly in love with to stop the Arabs from killing her cos he is a pretty White woman, who also happends to be America, or maybe half American and Half English, in any case these terrorists, I mean they would be obvious to all to be terrorists because they speak Arab and have a skin color of a terrorist and practice Muslium, anyway that is my pitch, what do y'all think?

Ok firstly the disclaimer, The spelling of 'color' is intenionally American spelling because its meant to be a Hollywood pitch, the ignorance in it is a knock at several things, the sterotypes of terrorists in the media, the idea of racial profiling (Oh, sorry Passenger Profiling) in security messagers in flights etc.

Lets get to a serious business, who is to blame for the events ar that airport?

The Media firstly plays a role in the paranoia, fear and suspection that is gripped the passengers. The television and paper press both play a role in the blame. Firstly television news, such as the BBC (I watch the BBC see) News, when interviewing musliums, although they seem to pick a loony, like with the recent Teorr raids, they talked to one member of the community who was saying how it was American fighter jets that destoryed the Twin Towers! Why did they have to talk to someone who obviously a loony? They also did talk to a "moderate Muslim" but also interviewing the nutcase wasn't really called for in my opinion.

The tabliod press is adpt at causing fear, panic and paranoia, they have a history of it. Like when they managed to get pedotritions attacked when stirring up a moral panic about pedophiles. Remmber when a mindless mob attacked a home of a pedotrition because they were too thick to tell the difference between the name pedotrition and pedophile, in a blind rage because of the tabliod's stirring. I think that the actions in the airport were caused by a simular stirring, this time by keeping hyping up the threat of terrorisms to beyond the level which there is a threat, and causing people to be more scared then they need be.

The passengers do also have to carry some of the blame themselves too, since if they thought pass their blind prejudice that two Asian men have to be terrorists , they would have relaised that they did get pass the tight security of the airport. From what I heard the media suggest, the two men were appearently wearing 'heavy clothing' which suggests that the passgeners feared they have bombs strapped to them. However, if that was the case then they would never have gotten that far into the airport, since they have to walk through a metal dectors and send anything they are carrying through an x-ray machines, plus the security staff would have searched them if they were worried. It not as easy just walking onboard, and the threat is still not that big, and not as big as some people seem to have been lead to believe.

The Islamic communiy also must carry some of the blame, they do not accept that there are extremists minority and that they must have to tackle the problem of extremism themselves. They cannot leave it up to the government and then cry victimisation when they do take a measures to tackle the extreme few and protect British society. It does seem to people that musliums not tackling the extremists in Islam, they are sending out a signal that they support the terrorists, because they don't do anything to tackle them, be it out of fear or ignorance. It still, however, sends out the wrong signal, and it helps spread the fear and the suspection. The feeling that Musliums are not willing to ingrigrate within British community and want British society to bend to their will, as some of them do want, also sends out the wrong signals and the fact that some of British society is starting to appear to do so, thanks to Politically Correct goody goodies, makes the sitution even worse.

So the final question is that if the fear and paranoia carries on long before we stop Asians flying altogether to stop the risk of terrorism? or sgegrate them on buses, trains and planes?

Before anyone saids that it might be far fetched, just take a look at what fear has done in the past in your history books....

I am sueing my old school

Since "Cross-Country running" has been called a form of abuse I have decided to contact a lawyer who will take up my case and my catlogue of years and years of abuse in both primary and secondary school, where I was calassy and mailously forced to run around the block in nothing but a t-shirt, shorts and trainers, for this so-called "Cross Country" running, I am sure that the lawyer and myself can fill our greedy boots at the expense of a state-school, so what if it needs the money to keep things running, I don't care so long as I get money, as far as I concerend they can close the music department, libary, IT, Drama and extra help for people who need it, let them suffer so I can fill my own shoes.

The school wll suffer for the abuse of making me keep fit, I also plan to sue them over forcing me to sit down for hours, forcing me to write and work, forcing me to bring "homework" home to do in my own time and forcing me to get an education, I am sure that learning shakespear, doing english, being forced to learn maths were all the breach of my human rights and were all forms of abuse which was carried out in my primary and secondary school, and I am sure that some greedy and immoral companies as I type this are willing to sue schools over such terrible breachs of my human rights, I will show them, how dare they try to give me an education and try and keep me healthy and stop me getting obese, like the children of today have the right and benifit of being, they will suffer for stopping me become an uneducated fat bulk of lard, by the time my lawyers and I have finished, the state-school will be so much in debate, that they be paying me for the next 5 years!!

That will show them, that they cannot go around ensuring that children are educated and healthy and are shaped to become intelligent and thinking young adults...wait they don't do the last bit....I mean and eensure that children are shaped to becoming unthinking workers that do not ask questions...

"Sucessfull Clogs" doesn't quiet have the same ring to it

The PRofessional Association of Teachers (PRAT) has been told today that they should no longer call children "Clever" and replace it with the word "Sucessfull" to aviod a culture that "mocks clever." To my understanding this is a phased attempt to make every student "Average" with already students who are "failures" being called as having "deferred Sucess" after a vote at the PRATs conference last year. The Proposal by Simon Smith, who has had "deffered Sucess" in the past has said that accademic prowess is not 'cool.'

A spokesman for another bunch of prats...the government said "This is no the brightest idea we have heard...." before adding "....and believe me this government has heard a lot of them, we've come up with most of them, like ID cards, Police Mergers, PFIs, City Accademies....."

We have also learned that in an attempt to me school more about coolness, but about accademic prowess? maybe we will have Music replaced with Rap? English replaced with 'txt spk' aswell as changing many of the other subjects.

There is also plans to change the marking system so that it is now 100% - 0% = C, after all we can't have anyone being above or below average now can we?

'Dave' Cameron approached the stage, dressed in a hood, wearing more jewelery then Mr.T, he step up to the mircophone and held it close to his mouth with one hand while holding his groin with the other:

"Yo, yo, yo whats happening y'all, you all ready to get down and happen with the dooogs from the T to the O to the R to the Y to the P to the A to the R to the T to the Y...? Groovey, then me and my bit..buddies, George "The Money" Osburn, David "SAS Hardman" Davis and William "The unborn Featus" Hague, are all here to talk to all you dudes about why the Tores are like so like the best and like coolest like urmm gang going, and way all you youngster will, by the end of this little tete a tete, or urmm I mean...errr a totally happending and radical recruitment urrm drive.

I know that everyone 'ere is like, so, like, fed up of that old man Blair, cos of his like you know, like, his lies and how like terrible he is running the country, you know, like, he and his old men friends are so like totally not like with it like at all, he like has no like understanding of youth culture and no like respect for us innit.

Here is were the ideas of the hip, happening and totally radical uber Conservtive Party are different to that of the naff, uncool, saddo Labour Party, the Tories want to hug a hoodie, we want to make you all feel loved, because it is unfair that like, you know, that is so unfair, that we are like discriminated against because we like choose to wear hoodies, I like know that many malls stop hooded people from going inside them, I even met a monk that was stopped for like wearing a cloak wid like da hood on it, you know what I mean man?

And I think you would all agree that the so-called IPOD canndiate, me, Dave Cameron, has and will give the Tories some pretty bad policies (*Bad means good right?* thinks Camron) and a pretty bad reputation amoung all of you young, hip, happening dudes and errr...female dudes, oh dudettes, and that our bad policies, no matter if you are a CHAFF, EMU, Goth, Skaterboarder, geek, nerd, streetie or any other sub culture you will all have the same opinion of me as a bad bottom politican that has kick butt policies and will make Britain bling again, you know innit, anyway I just want to finish this now, so thanks to you all and I hope that it keeps hanging"

More Proof that New "Labour" is a one way ticket to long term oppisition

The massive defeat for New "Labour" in former Labour heartlands of Blaenau Gwent is yet ahgain more proof of the serious threat that the New "Labour" project is, and the threat that Blairism poses to the future of the Labour Party.

Blaenau Gwent was Labour safest seat in Wales and was home to some of the most famous, important key figures in the history of the Labour Party, most notable is Aneurin "Nye" Bevan, who was the Health Minister the brought in the National Health Service (the greatest achievement of any Labour government to date) uder the 1945-51 Attlee's Labour government, a man who was a good socialist, and a political idol of mine.

The seat was also home to the left wing leader of the Labour Party, Michael Foot, who lead Labour in the 1980s.

Now we have lost that historic seat, our former safe seat, thanks to the policies of Tony Blair and his New "Labour" project, the people are now fed up of New "Labour" taking traditional Labour areas like Blaenau Gwent for granted, they are fed up of New "Labour" only doing things, and saying things to chase votes in Middle England, they are fed up of New "Labour" not caring about deprived areas like Blaenau Gwent.

The vote yesterday was against the sleazy, corrupt, slightly right of centre policies of New "Labour" a vote against the neglect of the grassroots of the Labour Party, of traditional Labour voters, a votre against New "Labour" chasing the few votes in swing seats like Blaenau Gwent, the Clause IV of the Labour Party saids '...For the many and not just the few', while the policies of New "Labour" are '...for the few and not the many.'

The impact of loosing Blaenau Gwent is huge, it is a clear sign of the failure of the New "Labour" project, of it's failure to deliever in places like Blaenau Gwent, of it's failure to listen to the people, like those in Blaenau Gwent and its failure to make any great improvement on the lives of the worse off in our communties.

The vote in Blaenau Gwent was a vote for socialism, against the policies of New "Labour" that do very little for deprived communties like Blaenau Gwent, this is a vote against the spineless politicans, the politicans that follow the party line blindly, the politicans that do not represent the consituants but represent the party, the politicans that do not vote what is best for their consituancy but why the party whips tell them how to vote, this is a vote against a spineless politican, one that follows party lines blindly, agains thte unthinking politicans and most of all a vote against Tony Blair and his New "Labour" let down.

This is a clear sign, that New "Labour" is now a serious risk, that we no longer have any safe seats, that our grassroot, core voters are leaving us and that this could very well be repeated time and time again in other consituancies, with traditional Labour voters leaving Labour for someone who they think is more left wing then Labour, be it Indepdent, Lib Dems, RESPECT, Green or maybe even the Tories and we could loose those seats from the lost of vote, this has been shown it can either be done by a direct lost in Blaenau Gwent, or a loss of votes going else where but allowing another party to win, like the Tories.

The disasterous election results in the Local Council elections in England this year and in countless by-elections are all showing that the New "Labour" Project has had it's day, that people are fed up of Blair, fed up of Blairsm and fed up of a party that just chases the middle class votes, and the votes it needs to survive, the grassroot, core voters are leaving us, and that is serious, because without them we can never be a government again.

Indeed New "Labour" may try and blame something other then themselves, they claim that Blaenau Gwent is unique, that Charles Clarke's comment cost them, that is was a sympathy vote, that it was because of all the bad news headlines, that the butterflies were farting too loud, they would blame anything but themselves, but the blame falls on the lap of Tony Blair and New "Labour" we are loosing safe seats because of their neglect, of there policies and of their failure to do much for the working classes, for the poorest and worse off in our country, the very people we in the Labour Party use to fight for, the very thing Labour should stand for. The "Labour" Party in government is not the Labour Party I want, I dont want a Labour party that stands for corruption, sleaze, a small selection of middle england, spin, privatisation of the NHS, fighting for the few and authoritarianism, if I wanted that I would have joint the Tories. I want a Labour Party that strives to improve our communities, that fights the good fight, that improves the lives of the poorest in Britain, that improves the NHS and not privatises it, that believes that economic stability and social justice can go hand in hand and it is not one or another, a Labour Party that puts people before profit, that redistributes the wealth effectively and fairly, a Labour Party that truely is the peoples party and I believe that is the Labour Party we use to have, that the core vaules of the Labour Party are still in the party and that we will have a Labour Party that is centre-left, democratic socialist, or at very least social democratic in the future, and not the current "Labour" Party of the 'radical' centre/third way, of spin and scandal.

This is the start of the end of the New "Labour" project and that I hope that it dies not before time, I hope that we see the fall of the New "Labour" project after we loose a general election, that way, they cannot blame "Old" Labour for the fall, that way the blame of the end of "Labour" govenrment falls on them, and that way they will be discredited and the old 'right' of the party can make an attempt to get elected back into the leadership of Labour and concentrate on making Labour electable once more, rather then the unelectibility of New "Labour".

There are lessons we must learn from Blaenau Gwent and those lessons are clear, they are the lessons that New "Labour" is a sinking ship, that is has failed, the lessons that if we take our core vote for granted then they will take their votes else where, a message that we must listen and act on the concerns of the most deprived communities and not do what Tony Blair and New "Labour" does and pretend to listen and don't act.

When we loose the safe Labour seat of Baenau Gwent by 2,500 votes for Westmisnter and a majority of over 4,000. Those majorities are very big, and show the scale of mistrust, of dislike, of disllisuionment, of unhappiness with the Labour Party, thanks to New "Labour", these massive defeats are a clear sign that New "Labour" is not working, that they are wrecking the Labour Party, that people in deprived communties are fed up of being taken by granted by Tony Blair and the New "Labour" leadership, that people are fed up of the lack of any democratic socialist vaules in the Labour Party, of any social democratic vaules in the Labour Party, under the corruption of New "Labour" and the destruction of what Labour use to stand for, of what Labour should stand for, and what I believe Labour will stand for once again in the future.

When the New "Labour" project dies, in what I hope, is a not too distance future (but not before it looses a general election), that we will see a return of a real Labour Party in Britain.

I believe that a move to the cetnre-left will lead to a Labour government that does the right thing, that stands up for the worse off, for the poorest, that fights for the deprived communties and not a fight for middle England.

We can no longer take traditional Labour seats for granted and we have to listen to them and act on what they say, we have to fight for them and ensure they get what they deserve, of what a Labour government should be delievering to the people, and what should lead to the end of New "Labour" vaules of pretending to listen, of authoritirianism, of privatisation of public services, of wasting money in PFIs that do not work, of not rebuilding the hope in communities in Blaeunau Gwent, of wasting money on Weapons of Mass Destruction that could be better spent in the NHS, in redistribution, or in giving our armed forces decent equiptment, rather then them having to beg, borrow and steal off the Americans.

This is the start of the end of the dark days of New "Labour" the end of the project and the end of Tony Blair and his cornies, and will see the Labour Party raising for the ashes once more, to become back to the peoples' party and once again be the party of fairness and social justice.

The people are fed up with the careerist politicans leading the Labour Party at the moment, the politicans that have no vaules or princibles other then there own personal gain and puting their careers first (why else would Tony Blair writtien a letter to Michael Foot in the 1980s supporting him and opposing what was then the right of the party) people want politicans with vaules, that have princibles and that believe in what they are saying and say what they believe, rather then the careerist mob that believe in saying what will improve their careers and do not have any vaules, princibles other then that.

The era of New "Labour" is surely coming to an end.

Anti-Human rights, Europhobic and anti-devolution the "new" look of the Tories

The changing face of the Tories, eh?, who would have guessed there would have been such a radical change from the old party that opposed human (and workers) rights, had a Europhobic attitude and opposed devolution to the party of today, that wants to leave the European Convention of human rights, wants to move their MEPs out of the Centre-Right wing bloc in the European parliament because they are too "pro-European" (Though there is some suggestion 'Dave' Cameron has lied about that) and has blocked a bill going through the House of Lords giving Wales more devolved powers, some radical changes.

'Dave' Cameron, everyones' best friend, the cool, hip and happening youngster, mr "I hate punch and judy politics but will do it all the time in PMQs", good ol' Davey boy, he wants to repeal the nasty Human Rights Act and replace it with a Bill of Rights, yea, that will teach the Europeans and their convention on Human rights, that covention is not for us, oh no....wait? Oh he doesn't want to pull out of the European Convention of Human Rights, he just wants to repeal human rights laws? Oh right, well that doesn't send out mixed signals at all does it, no, we can have our cake and eat it, we can have it both ways cant we, 'Dave' Cameron, he can say that he will have it both ways to try and please as many people as possible, we can stay in the convention of human rights, while not following the rules of the convention, yea, that makes perfect sense and is not "xenophobic and legal nonense" (Former Tory/Conservative Chancellor Ken Clarke's words and not mine), and this is definitly not 'Dave' pandering to the right wing (Dave? right wing? Never!) tabliods of the Daily Mail who opposes the Human Rights Act and wants something more British, oh no, this is 'Dave' using his own initive that just so happends to be in line with the rignt wing tabliods, its conscience, seriously, there is nothing populist in what 'Dave' is saying at all, oh no no no, it might be popular to the masses and saying what everyone wants to hear but its not populist, no no, not at all.

The Lords altering the Government of Wales Bill by both Tory and Fib Dem hands is again not the return to the old ways of the old Tories, no, I dont think this is an attempt to undermime the Welsh Assembly by stopping the bill getting through just because of some concern over the names of committees and how they are made up, and also the oppisition parties wanting to undermime Welsh democracy by allowing 'loosers become winners' (how would stopping cannidates from standing in both the consituancy and regional list seats help Labour? surely it wouldn't have any effect since the list seat members will stand for the list seat again?), so there excuses do not really wash on me, it is clearly an attempt to undermime the Welsh Assembly, either because they don't like it, like the Tories or because they want to make electoral gain from failure like the Fib Dems.

But, lets get back to Mr.Cameroo, 'Dave', the Green man, the man on a massive Eco trip, ah David Cameron, nothing shows his green credentials more then him riding a bike, with his chauffeur driven papers, shirt and shoes, yea, there is nothing more green then having a car just for your papers, shirt and shoes while going around trying to con voters that you are green by rididng a bike to work while having that car follow you with the chauffeur driven papers, shirt and shoes, yea that is very green isn't it, just like flying to the Antartic to see the polar ice caps melt and then flying back again, on a vehicle which is appearently contributing to the metling of the ice caps more then any other (don't get me wrong though, I oppose taxing air travel since it will mean that working class people cannot travel on holidays aboard)

Its fantastic that the Tories have picked the "heir to Blair" (Hopefully Cameron will in that case do as much damage to the Tories as Blair and his New Labour cronies has done to the Labour Party.) especally when the public is fed up of the sleaze, scandal and corruption that Blairism and New Labour have brought to the Labour Party and this "Labour" Government, just like the sleaze, scandals and corruption of the previous Tory government, so the "heir to Blair" (and if he is telling that to the red lot, then he won't get many Labour voters) or the "Liberal Conservative" or the "Conservative through and through" or the "Vote Blue go Green"(probably be being sick?) or the "We are nice really, please vote for us, we are populist, please please with sugar on the top" party or "the party with no policy" or whatever Cameron is at this very second, it is so hard to keep up with him, thinks that he can pull the wool over the voters eyes for long, he got another thing coming, the public might be fed up with Blairism, the corruption, failure and rot of New Labour, but they do not want to see it replaced with a Tory government that will no doubt end up doing more harm to the country then good, and not doing any of the few good things to come, even out of this crappy and under achieving Labour government. (The polls suggest the likely hood of a hung parliament, but there is a while to go yet).

The choice that the poor old British public have to make though is not good, New Labour lead by a Blairite (Blair, Brown, Miliband, Milburn, Ried, take your pick) or a Tory party lead by a Tony Blair clone (spin, populist adgenda and the like) or the Fib Dems who cannot be trusted at all by their record in local government and the contrictions in their messages across the country, or some other minor party (take your pick), choice? what choice?

Why oh Why does Claire Curtis-Thomas trying to push her right wing morals on us, from what is meant to be a centre-left party (although Tory Blair has preverted the party into a centre-right one), the Labour Party is NOTHING like the blooming Republican Party in the USA, firstly the Republican Party is traditionally a right wing, conservative, christian party, where the Labour Party is traditional a Centre-Left wing, democratic socialist/social democratic secular party (until Blair came in and started to spread the decay of New "Labour" in the party, but thats another matter) So why, oh why, oh why, is Claire Curtis-Thomas pushing forward her vaules on the British public , claiming that "lad mags" are 'replusive' and wants to protect 'minors from obsence matierals' (yea, because they are corrupting aren't they) she seems to think it will scar the poor little children for life, sure, lets also make sure that we get rid of toy guns and toy soldiers and other such things while we are at it for being 'dangerous' and warp up our children in cotton wool...

The arguement that such "lad mags" is 'expolitation of women' is total and uttrer rubbish aswell, these women are paid to model, they do it WILLINGLY, women are not some mindless slaves that do whatever a man saids, it does not work that way, the women that do the SOFT porn stuff in the "Lad mags" are not degrading themselves, since they are probably making a good bit of money from the shoot, and they are not being expolitated, since they are making a good bit of money from the shoot, much more then someone on the minimum wage makes (why isn't Claire Curtis-Thomas speaking up about something that is expolitation, like the underpayment of immigrant workers and the effect that has on the British workforce?) and if a woman is offended by such magazines, then their is a simple explaination DON'T LOOK AT THEM!!!!!! good grief, is that so bloody hard for some people to do? Seemingly so.

Besides which, I do not see it as a bad thing that say a 13 year old boy can (and should be allowed) to by such magazines, and a 13 year old girl buy the female equalivant (which their are and, suprisingly Claire don't seem to be ranting about those as much) , this is because their is nothing really wrong with such things and with young teenage boys and girls exploring their sexuality by reading such magazines, it is perfectly natural for young teenagers to be interested in such things (no matter what sexuality they might feel they are at that point, if any) and moving this material to the top shelf is some vain sttempt to protect children and not offend women is ridiculous.

Maybe Claire Curtis-Thomas should stop acting like the wife of that Lovejoy (or Killjoy in her case) character in The Simpsons (you know the one that always saids "Wont someone please think of the children") and end her attempts to restrict access to magazine just because she feels the need to push her morality and her fears onto society, when we don't want the state dictating to us what we should and shouldn't be reading and not tell us that the material in such magazines is dangerous and corrupting to children, because the reality is that it is not, and her views on such matters shouldn't become law and thankfully, since parliament has real things to discuss rather then the nonesense she wants to be put into law, it never will be.

It seems like Chancellor Gordon Brown (how long before he starts calling himself 'Gord'?) looks set to be yet another Tony Blair clone (which is the last thing Labour needs) with his commitments to the Tridant nuclear subs (I bet you Bin Laden is quaking in his boots....) aswell as the countiued privatisation of the NHS, attacks on civil liberties and general bad mouthing of public sector workers (who do a fine job in my opinion).

The "Iron" Chancellor has, in all his wisdom signalled he would follow Blair's lead (probably the lead which Bush is holding....) and replace Tridant, the question I am wondering is why?

With the end of the Cold War and the threat of the Soviet Union marching across Western Europe what do we need nuclear missles for?

I know that there are several possiblities, North Korea is the most obvious one and the one that holds the most water, yet the government has not (yet, and to my knowledge) mentioned the threat that N.Korea posses as a reason, they have however mentioned Iran (hmmm, a Middle Eastern country that happends to be next on Bush's hit list, how interesting.....) as a reason to arm ourself with nuclear weapons, which again is using the fear of 'Islamic' terrorism and 'Islamic' nations to its own political ends (and probably will add to the reasons to invade Iran, because they have Weapons of Mass Disappearence....)

Another one is that Russia may be a threat again, however with Russia's new found power over its engery and fuel sources (as demostrated when to cut off supplies to Ukraine and effectively held Ukraine to ransom) why would it need to threat the use of nuclear weapons, especally when there is a small chance that Britain will need supplies from Russia and if that is a case, Russia could easily beat Britain into submission without nuclear weapons. Moreover, the state that the Russian economy is in at the moment, and that they would probably need to replace their nuclear weapons, I don't think they would be able to afford it.

Terrorism is another one I have heard the pro-nuclear mob jump and shout about, but why would a terrorist be scared of a nuclear bomb? We can't drop it on the terrorists because after the attack they either be dead if they are a suicide bomber, left the country to hide in another country (Probably without the knowledge of that country) or be lying low in Britain, so where do we target, there is no "Terrorist land" (Like Bush would like us to believe their is) there is no where to target, the nuclear weapons are usless against terrorists, and let me go back to Iran, if I may, if Britain or America was to drop a nuclear bomb on Iran (I seriously doubt that any nation would nuke Iran) but if we did drop a bomb, or America did, then that would create 10 times more terrorists (I know that Bush wants more terrorists, but even he is not that stupid.....) so terrorism is out of the question.

So firstly their is no clear reason from my understand but to stop some "potenional enemy" (either N.Korea or Iran then, should be N.Korea but is probably Iran)

Another probably is the cost, now from what I read it will cost between £10 billion and £25 billion, now since this "Labour" government has come to power the gap between the rich and the poor has gotten bigger, we still have many problems in our poorest communities, the NHS is still in crisis (thanks to New "Labours' " privatisation of parts of the NHS, too many mangers, both a waste of money)
So won't that, £10 billion be better spent on redistribution of some sort, either by investing it into areas where there is high unemployment so there is more training for jobs and actually to attract jobs into the area, spent on improving schools in those areas, spent on the NHS to help it get back onto it's feet, spent on giving young people in areas with high anti-social behaviour something to actually do, there is all kind of things those billions could be spent on, rather then building new nuclear weapons that will just never be used and go to waste.

The NHS is in a deficit of at least £512 million, that £10 billion would wipe out the deficit of £512 million 20 times over at most, there is also a £1.8 billion gap in social care funding, and a £2.2 billion shortfall in funding for local governments, all of which would be far more important to spend money on, especally the NHS and the social care gap.

And although this is a pre-emptive strike by Brown (campaigning to be next Labour leader, or thinking he will be) in a contest is will count against him amoungest traditional Labour MPs and members, and if someone from the old right of the party stands (and I am not on about the loonies from the Socialist Campaign Group, though I would vote for them over Brown, as a protest vote) then I would say I hope they would kick Brown and New Labour out, however thinking about it I would rather New Labour lost the next election and then they will have no-one to blame but themselves, and hopefully allow our lot to retake the party.

On one final note, Blaenau Gwent duel by-election is coming up and a former Labour safe seat, if we do not win this back, this time the New Labour mob cannot blame all women short list for the loss of the seat (though I am sure they will blame something else) but the real blame will rest again ont he policies of New Labour, and it will show the effects that New Labour is having on traditional Labour voters and Labour seats and the threat that it posses to the Labour Party, if we losoe our safe seats and traditional Labour voters, our base, then we can never stand a chance of getting into government ever again, and possibly not even be the offical oppisition.

We are not all Blairites or Bennites

I am getting fed up with people think that in the Labour Party you are either a New Labour Blairite or an Old Labour Bennite, like the media seems to protray the party as, it is simply not true, there is an alternative within the party from the two extremes, be it the extreme right of the party with Blairism and the Blairites or the extreme left of the party with the Bennite idealogy and Bennites.

There are still people inbetween the two extremes in the Labour Party, either on the right of what was Old Labour or on the left of what is New Labour, the people who do not think competition in the NHS is the correct and is against the core believes of the Labour movement, the people in Labour who oppose the Education Bill (the one that needed Tory support....which saids alot about what the Bill is about), the people who oppose Nationalisation but also oppose further Privatisation, the ones who support stronger redistribution of Wealth, the ones who support a slow, progressive increase in the minimum wage and not a dirty great big increase that will be disasterous, the ones who want to support the Trade Unions without going back to the days of the 1970s, those who support the new Clause IV, those of us who believe PFIs are disasterous for public services, those of us who want a modern Labour Party that has mordern Labour vaules but think that Blairism has pushed the Party so far towards the right of politics that it does things which no other Labour government would do, but we also know that we cannot go back to Michael Foots' Labour Party of the 1980s, but a pragmatic centre of the Party which neither the Blairties or Bennites belong too.

I know that many people in New Labour believe that if you don't want a concrete statue of Tony Blair errected in the Middle of London (that is a statue in the image of Tony Blair and not Tony Blair himself covered in Concrete....) then you must be a far left wing loony socialist who wants to go back to the 1980s and renationalise everything and give into the trade unions, like John Ried keeps trying to scare us with ("ooooo, we must keep Tony Blair because anyone who speaks out against him and wants him to go is a dangerous Old Labour boogyman....booooo, scary, back into 40 billion years of oppisition, if Tony Blair goes, Trae Unions running the counry, we wikll have spring, summer, Autums and Winters of discontent, Zombies will wlak the Earth, Criminals will run riot, everyone will be running around in rags, terrorists will be blwoing us up every day under Old Labour, Old Labour will declare Athur Scargill the lord ruler elite of all of the UK, raise the minimum wage by £100,000,000 daily, nationalise everything and everyone and do...oooooo nasty things to your children....Only Blair can stop these bunch of people in straight jackets")

Of course this is not true and is nothing but scare tatics, trying to scare the Labour Party members, pragmatic MPs, AMs, MSPs, MEPs, and the electolrate, I personally hopes that this scare tatic by the delucded Blairites (and Blairites are getting more and more deluded by the day) do not work, Labour cannot take any more Blairism, it is killing the party, taking us back to the 1980s.

I fear for the future of the Party if Blair stays on any longer then early 2007, or if another Blairite takes over after Tony, however only time will tell....

Well the Tories have drawn up an "A-list" of pillocks....I mean people who want to join "Dave" David "Flip-Flop" Cameron "the Chamelion" and appearently one of the names on it acording to the media, on the list is the FAILED Soap "Star", Come FAILED Pop "Star" and soon to be FAILED Tory Cannidate; Adam Rickett, the so-called "Ego-Warrior" Zac Goldsmith (How are the Tories Green?)

So lets look at the three people, Adam Rickett, who is a probably reasonable well-off failure who would lack to see tax breaks for himself and the rest of the rich few friends, and I am sure Rickett will just be their to get votes for looks "Oh look at me, my name is Adam Ricket, ladies please vote for me, I got boyish looks and a six pack, I dont know much about politics but I got a six pack, our policies don't matter because I look sexy and you should vote for me on that" it is obvious that is why he is on the list, a washed-up "famous" person, and I guess he is just a normal right wing, middle class Tory, that just so happends to be young, good looking and have a six pack and Cameron hopes that people are shallow enough to vote for that. (If he does think that he will be greatly mistaken, the British people are Very Intelligent and care about the Policies of the Party, and not just the looks of the cannidates)

The next one is the "Ego-Warrior" Zac Goldsmith, excuse me but why is an "Ego-warrior" joining a total un-green Party, a party that is folling people it is green. Cameron is a hyprocrite, he rides on his bike, while he has a CAR following him carring for HIM a clean shirt, and a pair of shoes, now what is the point of riding your bike while having your car following you? That is a pointless exercise just to get photographs and look popular, while Cameron is just the same old Blue unegological Tory, the fact that he flies to the Anartic for a photograph about the ice caps melting, when air travel is a cause of global warming, so its a bit ironic just for a couple of photographs Cameron helps melt theice caps.

Search and Rescue Privatisation? What is next? The Fire Service? Police?

So the government now wants to Privatise helecopters in Search and Rescue, well what a good idea, lets privatised live saving organisation, you could have a t-shirt being sold "I was saved by Canadian Copeters, Sponsored by Snickers" better yet, lets have the same problems that Blair's PFIs and PPPs have caused in the NHS and Education, so that means that the helicopter will be 1 hour and 15 minutes too late and find the poor sod has fallen to his death, or the helicopter flies to the wrong place after a privatised SAR computerised location company gets bad information from a privatised call centre for the SAR, so they into the wrong information into the computer, which just so happends to be very badly bugged, so instead of going to rescue someone in Snowdon they end up looking off the coast of North England.

Have the government learnt anything for the terrible PFI programmes? Such as the recent Oxygen tank scandal where the Oxygen tank failed to turn up to the right address or turned up too late, or any other PFI that gones balls up (Oh so many to choose from)

You never know we may end up cowboy rescuers, maybe they will have an anwser phone "I am sorry, the offices of SAR are open from 0850 - 1700 please call back tomorrow, or leave your name and where you are stranded and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

News Special: "Bird Flu, We're All Going to Die"

Bird Flu has hit the UK, the killer disease that has killed over 100 people so far hdas been found in a dead swan in Fife. Bird Flu can turn into a pandemic if it is maanges to mutate into human to human disease, a pandemic like the ones that killed 100,000s of people in the past, but that has not happend yet.....BUT IT MIGHT DO ANY TIME NOW.....though there is no need to panic....yet!!!!

Birds are also safe to eat, though sales of birds have dropped in Greece, France and Germany and any bird that is outside is at risk of catching the deadly disease, and these birds could be sold in your local shop, but they will be perfectly safe WHEN COOKED, however if your a vegetarn, like I just found out I am, a few minutes after the case of Bird Flu was found in the UK, then, and only then you have a chance of surviving, though even then it will be slim when it spreads from human to human.

The government has also been slow in reacting, it took them 8 days to do the tests and other stuff related to Bird Flu, dubbed "death flu" in some countries, well not really but we can say that because you won't bother to check, we think that the government is being too unreactive and they should drop everything for this one case of bird flu, education, the NHS, transport, the economy, or anything else is not important, what is important is this one case of bird flu, that might lead to the end of the world.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, by the way, did we forget to tell you that WHEN there is a pandemic there will not be enough vancine around and we will all DIE, because we wont get the vacine or the cure, because the government thinsk that spending more money on healthcare, education, law and order, the welfare state and making sure we have a good economy is more important then spending every single penny we have on getting every single piece of vacine into the UK.

Also your Pets will die, your pets are at risk, cats, dogs, parrots, pigs, ants and hamsters will all die, and then you will die too, especally if you have a parrot or a canery or any other bird as a pet, if you do, kill it, kill it now, Save your self, flush little Polly down the loo.

While we are at it, it would be safer to burn down all houses with birds in them and bird tables in their back or front gardens, thus stopping them infecting you and your family, the Lib Dems also need to be burnt, because their symbol is a bird and the bird will kill you.

We also urge you to go out right now and panic buy gas masks, face masks, radiation suits, cans of baked beans, air rifles, mil, cerael, , oragnes, apples and every other food, while destorying and burning all bird based products like chicken, turkey and bird custard.

The fact is, we will all die soon, while I am evacuating my family to the bunker I build under my house for the best part of 10 years, the producer is off to pray for mercy and forgiveness in the nearest church and the director is off to the airport to fly to some remote country in the hope of avioding dying from birds, though I warned him the roads and airports will be packed tomorrow with people fleeing Britain due to eh massive panic that the media has caused out of this single case of bird flu in Britain, and still while it hasn't spread between human and human. We do hope that you too find your way off this god forsaken Island before Bid Flu kills us all, or find a safe bunker or a safe palce to hide.

Unilt this Bird Flu that will destory everyone is over, we will keep going on and on and on about how dangerous and deadly it is and it might become until you do believe us and do panic, and then we will carry on causing and hyping up the panic so you will watch us some more, as we schedule countless special documentarys, currernt affairs programmes and "what if" programmes all spreading the same message that we are all doomed and their is nothing that can be done about it now and simular programmes will be shown on every channel to make sure there is no escaping the media hyped message of death that bird flu might bring, simular to the hype we did around SARs, only on a much bigger scale, and until another deadly disase threaterns to kill us all but does not, this is good bye and good luck with writting all your wills, but there is no point because there be no-one left to leave your wealth too, because they will die too...oh, and coming up next is the hit horror film...The Birds.....good bye and don't have nightmares..

A few things

Sorry for not blogging in a while, been quiet busy. A number of things have happend, both something about me and my politicaly views which I do want to comment upon, so here I go.

Firstly, just a short one about me, something that went on in my life a couple of weeks ago (22nd Feburar) I met the First Minister of Wales and the leader of the Welsh Labour Party Rhodri Morgan, I met him as part of Labour Students and the CLP/resident. Rhodri Morgan made a very good speech and took questions from the members of Labour Students and then at another event were he was taking questions and talking to residents of another part of town, he was very good. The best aprt of the night for me was when I actually got a lift in the car with Rhodri Morgan from one event (The Labour Students one) to another one (the one were he was talking to residents).

Right here is my views which I so often put here (you lot must think I am very opinionated....which I am)

The first thing I want to comment upon is the (now frozen) suspension of Ken Livingstone by the undemocractic quango. Ken Livingsone only called that journalist that because of the vendetta and hate campaign which that journalist and his newspaper had been waging agaisnt Ken Livingstone just because of his (Ken Lingstone's) socialist politics, although he may have not said the best of things, the journalsit is a bit of a hyprocrite anyway working for the same media group which has the daily mail, which backed the Nazis in the 1930s.
I know that Ken Livingstone is no racist and no anti-semetist, he is, if anything, strongly anti-rascist in all it's forms and has built many bridges between communities. The complaint was not even made by the Jewish reporter, but by a group of vandictive people who didn't like Ken Livingstone inviting a Palistinian guest speaker (Or something like that), anyway I hope that Ken Livingstone will have the best of luck in his appeal.

The Liberal Democrats have recently elected a new leader, "Ming the Merciless" the man who shot Kennedy, I for one am not sure if the Liberal Democrats have made the right choice or have made a terrible mistake, I know that Simon Hughes would have been a mistake for them in the long run, since he woukld just been another Charles Kennedy, however Chris Hunhe would have amde an interesting choice for them since he may have done some modernisation to the Party. However I hope that Mr. Campbells style of politics will be totally different from that of Tony Blair and David "Flip-Flop" Cameron, the managerment style of politics is boring, and it lacks vaules and commitment. We need a political leader with conviction and beliefs and not affaird to express them, hopefully Liberal Democrats will have it and, maybe, just maybe, the Labour Party once Tony Blair resigns.

Talking about Tony Blair, did anyone see him on Parkinson last night? I thought that he had a pretty positive and good interview and was very funny and interesting. I also think that the press have blown his comment about Iraq out of all propotion, what Tony Blair said was that if you believe in God then God would judge him over Iraq, now as you all know I am an atheist, however I don't believe Tony Blair was saying that he preyed to God to see if it was Ok to go to war, or that the war was God work, what he did say is that when judgement day is upon him then he will find out if the war or wrong in the eyes of God, which Tony Blair does believe in (and it is not a crime to have faith). It also shows that Tony Blair does feel personal responsibility for the soldiers in Iraq and the deaths of British service men and women. This just shows to me that irresponsibility and bias of the press, who want to stir up problems and blow up little comments out of context and make them into something bigger then what they are. If they are taken in context, then there was nothing wrong with what he said.

Well, well, well, looks like fundlementalist religious whacks are at it again, but this time its a group of Musliums who are causing all the trouble over a few cartoons.

Ok so I imagine that having a prophet drawn as a suicide bomber would be offencive, however that is no justification for a small group of loony radical muslium fundlementalist nutcases to go out and decided that they need to prove that, actually, the cartoon has actually got a good point about how Islam has been hi-jack by a small group of madmen who clearly need to be given mental treatment in a lunetic asylum.

Of course it is only a minority of so-called Musliums who want to go around saying "Freedom go to hell", "Death to all non-Islamic findels...especally the Jewish" and call for terrorist attacks, or dressing up as terrorists (so, someone, who happends to be one of the most evil things on Earth, a drug dealer, who dresses up as a terrorist don't get shot, by innocent Brazilians do??)

Then you got the state/government sponsered protests in the Middle Eastern countries, with the authoritirian fundlementalists in those nations, such as Iran, using the 12 cartoons as an excuse to increase their power and bury bad news, such as the Iranian nuclear crisis, and such fundlementalist states also print and say even WORSE stuff about the Jewish population of the world, threaterning to wipe them off the map or printing anti-jewish propoganda that would even put the Nazis to shame.

I do believe that most Musliums in the west accept our vaules of freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of being and most of them like freedom, because it does not conflict with their believes, however the minority of trouble makers want to true the West into an Islamic dictatorship, and that is something which will never happen, because its only a minority and besides which, it will never be accepted by the people.

Its just a shame that a small number of islamic fundlementalist lunetics are causing everyone to think that all musliums are insane terrorist types, which is clearly not true, every religion has it's extremist and fundlementalist elements, it is just ashame that the media is giving more attention to the more negitive and vile elements of the Islamic faith, while Christians boycotting homosexual marriages and funnerals with signs saying "Thank God For Aids" and blowing up Abortion Clinics is largely ignored.

It is just ashame that religion gets abused for hateful reasons and the majority of the moderate religious people seem unable or unwilling to tackle the loonies who want to use it for evil, and that it is up to the atheists, to try and point out that their are loony factors that cannot be ignored in every faith, even in atheism, and that they must be tackled for the better of all human kind and a more peaceful Earth.

Christian Voice and the BNP

That is right, Christian Voice is back attacking Jerry Springer: The Oprea. Christian Voice are against organising protests and handing out leaflets against the "Sinfull" Jerry Springer: The Oprea, which is on the UK tour.

However, Christian Voice have had some help handing out their leaflets by the racsit and vile group, the British Nationalist Party, the BNP handed out the Christian Voice leaflets claiming that they were righting discrimination against "The Christian Majoirty", in actual fact the majority of Christiansts don't give two hoots about Jerry Springer: The Oprea.

Christian Voice were "shocked and horrified" that the BNP have been handing out their leaflets, I would guess they were shiocked that anyone would want to help them and hand out their leaflets. However Christian Voice were also upset becuase the BNP are "purveyors of hate" while Christian Voice are "Purveyors of love. We're Christians." Ah yes is this the same kind of 'Christian Love' that allows homophobia? The same kind of 'Christian Love' that makes them want to oppress women? that make them think that Christianity is right and every other religious faith believers will burn in the eternal fires of hell?

The survey found that 1 in 10 thought that celebrity was the best way to get famous and rich without qualifications or skills, it also found that many young people thought that after they have been on Big Brother or Pop Idol or other such rubbish they would still be famous...

.....now I know I never watched Big Brother or Pop Idol or anything like that, but I don't know the names of any of the contestants that been on either show, and I am pretty sure that the winners of every Big Brother that's been open to "normal" members of the public are not famous, I dont know the names of any of them and I am sure that I would not recongise any of the faces of the contestants of Big Brother or Pop Idol and nor would I think anyone would recongise their faces.

Also I doubt they earn a lot of money, apart from the occasional guess appearance for local events, television or radio shows or magazines, all of which have to be absolutely desperate and run out of "proper celebritries" to invite (Of course there are far better people who are not famous or celebrities...).

As for Pop Idol or Popstars or even X-factor, the winners of those usually dont last more then a few months (bar a few) and the other contestants are never seen or heard of again.

I wonder if the 16% that think reality TV is the quickest way to fame ever think of what happends to them after, they seem to be so thick that they think that dropping out of education to be made of a complete tit on national television to make them famous are obviously already slightly stupid and so hooked up on the concept of 'celeb' they have no concept that Big Brother is only 15 minutes for being famous for being humilitated on national television of Big Brother, or having a terrible singing voice on X-Factor and Simon Cowell making you cry like a sissy in front of the entire audience.

"Voting Error" Gave Labour the election

David Cameron is the new man to lead the Tories, the members somehow thought after seeing his poor performance on Question Time, that he would be the man to beat the Labour Party (under a Brown leadership....I wonder if the members of the Labour Party and the Trade Unions will try and wrong foot the Tories by electing someone else to lead them....) at the next election, of course to beat the Labour Party they would need a swing not seen since the Winter of Discontent (MORI spokesman on BBC News) and that is very unlikely to happen, so maybe Cameron is still on/never was but is now on drugs if he thinks he will win. We all know that the extremely old people (40 is young acording to someone who spoke on behalf of the Conservaties) who still vote Tory are on drugs, but it's there age bless them.

The Tories in there wisdom has choosen a privatedly educated elite of the past, again showing that the Tory Party is a party for the rich, by the rich of the rich, they don't care about poor people, Cameron is so elite, he is even related to the Queen, in the albeit one of those distant ways the media likes (5th cousin to the best friend of the sister of a brother who knew a man that was the neweph to the grandson of the 11tth cousin seperated from the sister of the Queen mother)

At the lowest point I was constracted this device that was to keep my head attached to my body, everyone at work was laughing at me for weeks and weeks, and even now I am too affaird to turn on the television in case of what I might see.

It terrible all the terrifying things we have to put up with, what with the sickerning advert such as this. I mean I got to worry about catching Bird Flu from eating chicken and eggs, I even had to remove my bird table from the back in fear of catching something from birds.
Also I hardly ever leave the house and run to the car when I have to, I mean, what if a bunch of youths with hoodies come to attack me outside me isolated, middle england country house!

We in Middle England sho uldn't have to put up with scary stuff, and to the middle england everything is scary, especally things on Television.

How can I enjoy greaat programmes like Antiques Roadshow? Songs of Praise? Country Watch? and other such programmes (If you remember, last year I wrote a complaint about Flog It and those flying hammers on the programmes credits, I was wearing a crash helmets for months after that for fear of flying hammers)

I have been thinking, I was too soft in my earlier blog entry (Bird Watching now an extreme sport). After hearing about the cases of Bird Flu in China, I though "Hey, maybe we should take a leaf out of the China's book...they don't respect human rights, why should we?"

So, here is my solution to the sitution, you could say this will kill two birds with one stone (in fact, birds faster, before they kill us)

Right, what I think we should do is, instead of giving out free flu jabs, we pretend to give them flu jab, but instead the needle is filled with poison, therefor putting everyone entitled to free flu jabs to death. This would cut down the rate of people who are more likely to catch the flu and we would also cut down the those people using the NHS therefore freeing up more resources.

I think this would be very effective.

3 things the Tories could do to win the next election

Since both the Davids seem usless, and it looks like the Tories will remain unelectible, I though I would put forward some friendly and helpful advise of what the Tories could do to become electible.

1)A name change: How about calling yourself Labour, that is universally popular, or Liberal Democrats appeal to the young vote, maybe you could go and look at the most popular American party for advise and be the Republican Party, although that might be confusing. Maybe look to TV for inspiration, The Doctor Who Party prehaps? Or maybe the Antiques Roadshow would be more accurute for the Conservative Party of today?

2)Get a better leader. Here are some suggests of more popular leaders:
a) A coathanger. Universally known and quiet usuful

b)Paul Daniels. The public would like him, not a lot, but they will like him...well more then any of the other leaders, but its not like it be magic to do that

c)Harry Potter. Ok a fictional character, but so is an electible Tory Leader.....but he is simular to Cameron, he is young, gone to a posh and elitist school and he is so liberal on drugs he puts magic mushrooms into stews...

d)A football with a smilie face on. Everyone would love that, and it would have more personality then IDS

e)A good friend (Rupert) has suggested a comb, or a spoon, at least with the spoon one of the caindates (note, I am not on about David Davis) could use it to take some crack.

3)Get new clothes. Every politican weres those suits, or tries to be casual, that is gotten so boring. Try going around in fancy dress, cross dressing or maybe even come dressed totally missed matched (bell bottoms and wooly beige sweaters) it wouldtake attention away from your policies at least.

Anyhow, that is enough of my Tory Bashing fun for now

Bird Watching, Now an Extreme sport!

I envy anyone mad even now-a-days to go bird watching or to have a bird table in there garden.....with the ever growing threat from the Bird Flu which will wipe over everyone, acording to the media....

We need to take some measures to protect ourselves from certain death! Can I suggest the following?

1)Force the Liberal Democrats to change there logo....having that bird CANNOT be healthy and must be a health risk, a danger to the public.

2)Ban all Easter eggs.... this include Easter Eggs on DVD Films and other media

3)Scramble the RAF to shoot down any birds entering into UK air space, expensive YES, but it is better to be safe then sorry

4)Ken Livingstone will love this one......order the SAS to take over every single pidegon in Trafalgar Square

5)Place any suspectious looking bird in a coop for 60 days without trail or hope of release, and without telling the bird the evidence against them

6)Make the Birds join the Tory Party.....the Tories are a dying party anyway

7)Instead of using "Guys" for Bonfire night, have a cage full of birds which may be infected with the killer virus (the poeople watching the bonfire would beed to be in full enviromental suits, to ensure no infection)

8)Use the birds as a form of Germ Warfare against countries we dont like....Iran for example

9)All Birds are given ASBOs to stop them catching and spreading Bird Flu

10)If Worse comes to Worse, the vaccine is given to the eltie, who then flee to bunkers, the rest are left to die from the killer flu......unfortunetly the elite won't know how to actually run the country once bird flu has passed (and wiped out all the world's population but the elite) and they will soon die of savation (not knowing how to farm....)

Anyway, dont have nightmares.

First Question is asking about Youth VS Experince, Davis putting forward his "experience" of being in government...yea the THARCHER Government, which wrecked Britain and the MAJOR government which got kicked out of EMU and equally wrecked Britain.

Cameron talking about Compassionate Conservativism? Is that not an oxymoron?

Ooo! David Davis mentioned one-nation conservativism....which the public will see through as the same old cutting public services as normal conservatism......Davis has said he wanted too....shows a lot about the Tories and there lack of commitment to public services and to helping the worse off in society.

Davis is now talking about IDS wanting to help the worse off.....IDS the MAN who said that CHARITY was better then Public Services...so the rich get tax cuts.....yes that is helping the worse off isn't it, cutting public services in favour of Charity.....idiot.

Tory Boy Cameron is doing the usual politican thing of ducking and diving questions, over terrorism, and everything else so far, make sme think that he thinks that if his politics came out he would not win....or maybe he has no idea what to do with the Tory Party if he wins it....(here is a suggestion for you Cameron....bury it....the Conservative Party is old fashioned and out of date and full of old fossils)

Righio, this is my first blog entry, on this anyway and I am going to keep this one short. I will also start off as I mean to go on, Politics!

David Blunkett resigned from cabinet again, today, after "mistakes". David Blunkett made the right descion of resigning I believe, it must have been pretty bad judgement to take a role in DNA Bioscience, while out of cabinet, however he did know, everyone with half a brain knew, that he would be back after Labour's historic Third Term Victory. The biggest reason for him to resign is not the fact he made the mistake, but the fact it would give the Tories something to embrass the Labour government with if he stayed in, and although Howard has the nerve to call Tony Blair a lame duck (Who won the elections Michael?).

I guess this is the end of David's cabinet career, although I doubt it be the last time the media will leave him alone.
